Also when they mention Stalin killed his own people, I don't know what they're saying because Stalin was a Georgian, an ethnic and linguistic minority in the USSR
Also I'm not sure of the context, but if the left tweet is claiming that Ukrainians and Russians are the same people then it's taking Putin's side, because that's the chauvinistic Russian nationalist position
The amazing part of this tweet is that the only coherent part of it is the holocaust denial.
Kinda related: had a history teacher once that said that Stalin was worse than Hitler bc, in his words, "killing jews is one thing but killing your countrymen is much worse" and I regularly think about that. There's a retraction this morning.
The historical record is clear. Hitler killed millions of Germans. We tweeted out part of an inaccurate statement made last night by former Ambassador Michael McFaul without attribution, and we regret doing so. We have since removed the tweet.
I guess it could be SOMEWHAT believable given the image it was tweeted with. Hell of a mistake there, though. And either way some fucking former ambassador apparently said it, so it's still major WTF.

Please do not use class conflict as a lense for understanding the holocaust. The reality is that it was just a case of millions of people all deciding to act in the same shitty way at the same time. But they all did so for their own personal, absolutely unknowable reasons. There are no overarching forces to study, learn from, or to otherwise use to explain this phenomenon.
They also don't seem to know that all of the nazi leadership were rich psychopaths. Stalin doesn't seem to have taken anything for himself, other than about 11 pairs of pants (which seems excessive) and some books about communism.
