IIRC there was some factory that was dumping waste in the river that was messing with the reproductive cycles of fish and amphibians. But, all everyone remembers is the gay frogs.

those people will always be worth an attempt at reaching, at least. the fact that they care enough about human lives to have it factor into their worldview at all makes them better than the vast majority of people in the u.s.
and it is really a huge missed opportunity for the Left because so many of them are so close to getting it. Their audience are prime to be radicalized.

It's not a conspiracy. The Republicans are the opposition party now, so they are looking to grab any popular position that is opposed to the democrat consensus. Agitating for intervention in Ukraine is mostly a democrat thing now. Remember, that the democratic party welcomed the warhawk neocons with open arms during the trump administration, as part of their "beat Trump, whatever the cost" strategy.
