Their uniforms fit damn near identical
People make a lot of fun of North Korean medals but what other country has been at war with America for 70 years without succumbing?
Like fashion changes. Even among the military. I was in the army and I can say that the green dress uniforms fit way differently than the blue ones. Because styles change. Twenty years ago, your lawyer would be wearing a clown suit to court. Look at 90s suit fashion and it’s stupid oversized suits. But yet, if brown people or minorities wear these, there’s riots going on like the zoot suit riots. The :parenti: quotes are not only relevant with communist countries but when it comes to minorities in the US.
The baseball team I'm a fan of had these really cool looking unis in the 80s. But they were relatively tight and the shirt was a pullover. They tried to re-create the look a few years ago with the same color but otherwise was a modern uni - relatively baggy and the shirt had buttons. It looked god-awful.
Those comments look like they could have been generated by an algorithm. It's just the same two jokes about no food and JNCO jeans over and over and over.
Every :reddit-logo: thread is just procedurally generated variations of the same four jokes repeated over and over again.
Average looking asian uncles
"Obviously they're suffering from malnutrition!!"
"No, they're just normal-looking dudes. BUT just outside the photo are one million starving farmers"
"Actually no, everyone has starved at one point or another, except for Kim himself"
"ACTUALLY well yes, south korea (the real korea BTW) was suffering like this too until they were saved by accepting capitalism as their lord and saviour in 1954 and then everyone became tall and happy and ate KFC forever the end"
I'd argue that they are tailored, just to different standards. They hit the same sleeve length on every person, which doesn't happen by accident.
Is it possible that the fabric is vinylon? It's a very stiff, unwieldy fabric that is popular for official use in the DPRK (one of its ingredients is limestone). If these uniforms are vinylon, there would be a very practical reason to be oversized.
lmao did reddit just debunk the entire joke about the generals being rediculously over-commendated?
i think at a certain point they should consider a sash or something to mount them onto dudes runnin out of suit room
What a coincidence that when the opportunity came to dunk on Koreans, all redditors suddenly became fashion experts.
These?

The author closing things out by suggesting they go with just straight up SS uniforms like the ones from starship troopers is the cherry on top jesus christ.
DPRK knows that being unfashionable is their only defense against being accused of being fascists/nazis
Take a look at this photo of Petraeus, and you'll see just as many commendations (I count at least 31, not including rank or any additional pins on his ribbons), it's just that US military commendations are a lot smaller than Soviet/eastern bloc ones.

If this is a thread where we get mad at western fashion standards, wtf is with the way cufflinks are "supposed to" be worn. It looks completely ridiculous to me, the "wrong" way of putting them in at least makes your cuffs look like cuffs.
Lol I didn't realize it was possible to out medal Brezhnev
To be fair all modern uniforms are pretty shitty. We need to bring back like fancy outfits with high heels and shit. If you are gonna die you need a silly hat to do it in.
comments aside, that's pretty interesting! never knew that about the DPRK and that's also definitely the first i've ever heard of a practice like this.
