Comrade Putin lied to us! In glorious capitalist Ukraine, they have sandwiches! And mothers! We aren't allowed to have mothers in our communist motherland, but they are?? And they even have a word for love!
In freedomland you can be declared an expert on anything as long as it serves the state line.
"Hi, I'm a North Korean defector willing to pretend I've never heard of ice cream or love until I got to America."
"Here, have your own TV show."
"I'm a North Korean defector, they kidnapped me as a baby that's why I'm white, trust me, where's my book deal?"
Oh what a fun blurb from the lying "holodomor" expert cold war warrior "historian"
I seem to remember a quote from a Red Army captain that was something to the effect of "the German cities and towns were so nice. The farms were nice. Why did they, who had so much, attack us?"
He makes a good point, tbh. But the takeaway ofc is that the Nazis were power-hungry bullies, not that they were better than the soviets bc no gommunism
also a captain in the redarmy would probably have been conservatively 25-35 so would have remembered the aftermath of the Russian civil war and have immediate family who remembered the poverty of the tsar and civil war. Russian wealth was not static in the time in between and standards of living drastically improved so the fact he thought it was a lot doesn't necessarily mean it was much better than the soviet union at the time as the standards of reference for wealth might well have caught up slower than the standards of living
It might have been from Max Hastings' "Inferno" but I'd have no way of checking that right now.
"especially Germany 1944-1945"
uhh you mean the country getting carpet bombed to shit by the world three largest air forces? Was the red army impressed by how shapely the ruins looked? I guess they saw all those child conscripts with WW1 bolt actions guarding the concentration camps and slave factories and thought "wow these are some cool people". You could not pick a worse time and place lmao.
Poland was also literally the same eastern European, semi-feudal shithole that the USSR used to be. Except even poorer because it was run by reactionaries then literal Nazi bandits.
Hungry being wealthy is :data-laughing:
maybe Czechoslovakia, maybe, and only Prague and other big cities. didn't get blown up as much during the war and actually had some modern technology and industry. But I don't even know what this hack is talking about. They went "mad with fury"?? they were mad because the Nazis had just been slaughtering and pillaging their way across the USSR for years.
germany in 1944-45
lib admits fascism is the logical conclusion of capitalism and then continues to praise capitalism
I mean, it existed in 1939 when Germany invaded. It existed in 1918, when it was reconstituted in the wake of the first world war as part of the dissolving of the Austro-Hungarian empire. And it existed all the way back to the 12th century, under Casimir The Great.
It was occupied territory under the Nazis, but hardly non-existent.
There was a post a while back where someone wondered what a Soviet James Bond movie would be like, but what I want is a Soviet version of the "Communist enters a Western supermarket for the first time" scene, where instead of reacting with jaw-dropping awe our hero projectile-vomits all over everything.
this lib in the comments pondering if Russians should be obliterated has anti-racist in his bio lmao
I love that the right basically fights with the liberals over wether to implement Nazi policies directly and with clear messaging or indirectly and masked in progressive language.
Like fighting over which color to paint a burning house.
If Nazi shitholes are such utopias?
- Then why does Mississippi and Alabama suck so much?
- The confederacy lasted only 4 years
- Nazi Germany lasted 12
- Cuba and China are still kicking?
- Admit it, Texas is the most overrated state in the US. People ONLY like it become it's a nazi state and nothing more.
The only people I've ever met in my entire life that have enjoyed Texas are the people that were raised there. One of them is my ex, who is/was apolitical (although she had many more reactionary tendencies than she let on), and the other was an old roommate who, last I checked, is trying to bring back the Bull Moose party and won't talk to me cause I'm a commie (his mom is a gusano).
Look, you could maybe make that argument for the 1970's, but in the 40's that definitely wasn't true.
