Justification: Switch and Mac only
Rebuttal: DS1 is on switch
Counterargument: some motherfucker put confirm on B and cancel on A and you have to manually rebind it in your system menu
Same, different reasons tho.
Kept hearing about how hard it is and how fun it is because it's "hard but fair". Don't see any appeal in being hard at all.
Also, can't get into these attack pattern recognition and reaction kind of games. Tried Jedi Fallen Order, no good at it, had to switch to easy on final boss. And that's supposed to be leagues easiler than the "Souls" games.
jedi is 'easier' but it doesnt have busted builds like souls games do. in souls you can just look up online where the best stuff is and moonstomp most things
but yeah it is a game where you have to learn to have fun dying, it's a niche
I find ranged glass cannon builds work better in souls, spam rolling/attacking is way more likely to work when you only have to land a hit on the enemy 3 times. At most I need to learn "oh, he's attacking with the kill everything spell, run away."
I like video games, but I am extremely bad at video games, so I've never touched a FromSoft game because I imagine it will be thoroughly frustrating for me.
You should check out some letsplays. Setting aside the game play the game's have gorgeous visuals and breathtaking boss fights. Watching a player who is really good can be fun all by itself, some of the battles look like anime fights when the player has all the timings down and a meta build.
Any recommendations? I do like Let's Plays but I don't usually watch these kinds of games.
Maybe try one of the Hololive girls if you're in to that? Apparently they're all playing Elden Ring this month, and some of them are jaw-droppingly good at it. Apparently Ina is trying to go through the entire game with a parry build, which is the guddest you can git.
Justification: no skill
Rebuttal: get gud
Counterargument: no :gigachad-hd: *plays minecraft*
Lol. If you're hardcore enough to fend off hordes of creepers at z level fuck then you're hardcore enough for Dark Souls.
Same here, I get frustrated easily by games so I don't think I'd have a great time (esp starting out). Plus even big FromSoft fans have said that Elden Ring is total unfair bullshit at times.
It's true. No matter how hard purists will try to deny it, a fair few Elden Ring bosses are overtuned and feel borderline unfair unless you looked up the optimal build and strategy ahead of time. Late game in Elden Ring I had to respec like 3 times.
They've actually tuned down a few boss fights since launch, and I wouldn't be surprised if there are more balance patches in the future.
There are some total unfair bullshit fights, but ER also has a lot of mechanics to make it more approachable. I'm not sure there are any boss fights that you can't summon other players to help with, so even if you're not very good at the game you can legitimately build your character to have a ton of HP and defense, then just survive the boss long enough for the players you summoned to beat it to death. There are definitely some nintendo hard bosses, though. But I think if you watch a few tutorials on how to build your character to be survivable then lean heavily on the multiplayer systems you could complete the game even if you're just okay at video games. A lot of it does come down to patience, though. Dark souls is about failing a dozen times then eeking out a win by the skin of your teeth on the thirteenth try.
i tried to play dark souls when a roomie had it and i was like 'ok this is boring' after beating 3 major bosses in a row easily
motherfuckers have bad reaction speeds, we trans people are wired to be sneaky and quick in order to evade cisgender eyes
I only play Souls games immediately after Bisexual Visibility Day, because they'd never expect me after I'd just spent a whole day without my powers. Games are easy then.
The B/A thing is apparently standard in Japan, shit drives me up the wall. Thank god for rebinds
I avoided the games like the plague till about a year and a half ago. I tried DS1 Prepare to Die when it was gifted to me. Computer had so many issues with it just to get it working. Finally got in, died to a few things and uninstalled it. Wasn't the type of game I ass going to force myself to play.
Eventually tho I got more and more into speed runs and watched DS3 speedrun while GDQ was going on. DS3 just looked much more user friendly and i really liked the atmosphere a lot, so I gave it a shot and really liked it. After beating it I played the ds1 remaster and finally got why that game was so big, it is fun but you have to want to have fun with it and accept dying isn't as big of a deal as it may seem. That helped. Haven't played 2, Siekiro or BB but I'm almost done with Elden Ring.
The community pre elden ring was really toxic for the most part, still are in a lot of regards but I enjoy watching certain youtubers who put out quality content for the games and just don't really look at reddit and Twitter fans for it, I just don't care about that shit. Definitely recommend the games tho
I avoided them for forever due to the difficulty until I tried bloodborne in January not realizing it was by the same people as dark souls. I am absolutely hooked now and just finished Elden ring last night. I have to say the difficulty of the games is pretty overstated and I would recommend them to almost anyone willing to take on a bit of a challenge. They really are amazing games
I played DS1 long enough to get the hang of it, then got bored. I've heard the newer ones are better, but they don't draw me at all.
That is entirely legitimate. Though, if you like the aesthetic check out some let's plays. They're really gorgeous games and some of the environments and boss fights are breathtaking.
some motherfucker put confirm on B and cancel on A and you have to manually rebind it in your system menu
i was really looking forward to portable dark souls until that happened
You should play Code: Vein. It's like Dark Souls but your character is a highly customizable anime vampire.
