"Richard Spencer is pro-vaccine, atheist, pro-abortion, anti-war, pro-European unity, basically every rational/common sense position besides white supremacy. Always has been."
oh whoops except that one little thing, teehee. further down
"He has some based positions…but for deeply and inherently racist reasons."
you do not, under any circumstances, gotta refer to Richard Spencer as based. how are these people real
"fuck hitler but privatizing everything and making ethnic germans proud was pretty based ngl. The jew thing really messed everything up"
they probably think the worst thing Hitler did was shoot down ASBO laws when Himmler proposed them on the basis they are too draconian.
It is worth noting that while Himmler first proposed them the first politician to implement them was Tony Blair
AntiSocial Behaviour Orders
if you behave in an antisocial manner you can be given an ASBO which is notable as an ASBO is a criminal conviction which means that the (typically teenagers) who recieve them then have a criminal record for behavior which commonly never actually broke any laws.
it's excessive criminalisation of public life
it’s excessive criminalisation of 'behaving against the states' interest'
no it's more criminalizing stuff like being generally obnoxious which while annoying isn't actually against the states interest as it's just too small potatoes.
it's weaponising the police and legal systems against problem members of the community in a way that takes them out of the community and places them in the courts and makes it harder for them to move past these behaviors later
almost definitely but not that I specifically know of
looking it up yeah they were heavily used against neurodivergent children
bet if you look into it he's in favor of black/disabled/jewish/etc people being forced or heavily encouraged/coerced to get abortions and neo-liberals are so ghoulish they can't tell the difference (note they did not say pro choice they said pro abortion)
also because neo-liberals don't believe in structures if the coersion is in any way abstracted away from literal SS officers in jackboots marching people in they won't believe there is any. If the abstraction of violence is through the market/poverty or because neo-liberals are just stupid if the uniforms are LAPD rather than having skulls on them
If a fascist bleeds when a liberal is scratched, can't fascists scab over and become liberals?
That was basically how a lot of NATO leadership in the 20th century was recruited.
Are these demonic neoliberal subhumans pretending to be dumb? Or are they actually this dumb and can't fathom how they are as genocidal as an alt-righter except their genocide is good you see its in the name of muh economic rationality and muh profits so they aren't actually genocides its just a result of market forces.
the people in that reddit thread seem split between calling him a liar or saying Spencer has good positions for wrong reasons
they can't seem to understand they're looking into a funhouse mirror, showing them who they'd be if they were more honest with themselves
they can’t seem to understand they’re looking into a funhouse mirror, showing them who they’d be if they were more honest with themselves
I feel like that's the case with liberals and Russia too: they're literally looking in a mirror at a liberal state with comparable levels of inequality to the US, ruled by a reactionary liberal party similar to the more extreme and reactionary of the two ruling liberal parties in the US, and taking more or less the same sort of actions the US does for similar reasons and with comparable justifications, and they declare "that's fascism except worse because hItLeR wAsN'T cRoOkEd!" without a hint of irony or self-awareness.
Didn't it swing from having the lowest/one of the lowest ratios of wealth inequality in the world under the USSR to having roughly the same absurd level of wealth concentration and inequality as the US following liberalization?
There was a peak yes but stabilized as they realized there was a threat for a counter counter revolution and needed reforms and stability to not end with heads on pikes
Also America's inequality is truly grotesque
Hitler was incredibly crooked as well the man mandated people buy Mein Kampf and kept the proceeds personally. It's not brought up a lot because naively historians assume no one would be such a bloodless nerd as to care whether the man who killed millions was also skimming from the till of the Nazi state
Holy shit, that's when it started!
I always wondered how every single politician in :amerikkka: has the same dumb grift of writing a shitty book they make their followers buy and who started it
Hitler wouldn't have been my first guess but this makes too much sense
Exactly, and the claim that Hitler wasn't crooked or in bed with organized crime (which he objectively was) is just one of the absolutely deranged liberal hot takes where they just have to make Russia out to be something utterly beyond the pale, something bigger than the biggest demons of history, to the point where they start doing Hitler apologia and Holocaust denial to serve that end.
Honestly surprised they haven't started penning opeds like "Why the siege of Mariupol is worse than Genghis Khan's sack of Baghdad" or declared Russia to be engaged in "An assault on Europe of a scale not seen since Attila the Hun," just the absolute most unhinged shit.
I think they haven't made comparisons to Genghis Khan or Attila the Hun because they forgot they existed
I mean the fact that the far right is split between Putin stans and Ukraine stans right now it helping their dissonance, every time they see some Nazi on their side they can just remind themselves that Tucker Carlson exists.
never ending cycle of imperialist powers trading fascists back and forth and they get more evil every time
on the plus side they keep getting killed as they do this, so eventually they'll be whittled down to one ultra-fascist, who can then simply be defeated by The One True Leftist in hand to hand combat
yeah the market is just an abstraction of the violence of the state. Laws only exists through state backing with violence, property can only exist through laws, the market can only exist through property, hence the market can only exist if it is enforced with violence
How does all this Nazism keep ending up in my anti-communism?

Average space enjoyer :nazi-punching: vs. Average astronomy appreciator :gigachad:
I'm convinced many of the people on that sub are just completely politically illiterate. Like, grown up with the idea that the two political options are conservative and liberal, and neo-liberal means 'new liberal' so they'll identify themselves as that without having the slightest incling of what entails (other than muh free market)
They're united by three general tendencies:
- Rabid, obsessive hatred of the online left (this is the big one)
- Extreme partisan loyalty to the Democratic Party
- Being in favor of every vague "good thing" if asked despite if that actually agrees with neoliberal ideology or not
Most are very confused New Dealers who equate support for the Democrats with being a good and informed person and stumbled across what is essentially the official Democratic Party sub, so they're like "oh well I must be a neoliberal, I support these good things too"
I've definitely seen them claim that strong social safety nets/robust welfare states are neoliberal.
Rhetorically that is a widely-supported position on that sub. Actually ideologically coherent/conscious neoliberals tend to get downvoted when they weigh in with ideologically consistent talking points
Its pretty typical Democratic Party doublespeak though. The typical user on that sub will agree with both the statements "A healthy liberal society requires robust social safety nets" and "a healthy liberal society requires free markets and a balanced budget" and will not see a contradiction.
To quote my NATO-brained dad: Putin made a big mistake by invading as it created western unity for the first time in decades.
Western Unity is when the Saudis and Israelis tell the US/UK to piss up a rope while the EU cracks widen over rising energy costs and America talks about lifting sanctions on Venezuela to keep the lights on?
Putin dropping bombs on Kyiv has flipped the geopolitical board and left the rest of the world scrambling. Maybe under a different set of world leaders, we could see a refreshed western international alliance. But the upshot of the war mostly seems to be people in their respective countries reconciling with how many of their peers are just for-profit mercenary outfits.
