Don't even watch the whole trailer honestly just go see it on the biggest screen and with the most pals feasible

Adding to this, if flashy 'masala' movies aren't your thing, I would recommend watching 'Sardar Udham'. It's a really good movie about a communist freedom fighter. The Indian jury didn't send it to the Oscars because it "projected hatred for the British"- that alone should tell you how based it is.

Haven't watched it yet, but heard good things about Jai Bhim, a movie about a communist lawyer. In the one screencap I saw of it, the guy literally has a giant Marx face above his desk lmao

Shit I still need to see this. Idk if this is my uninformed western perspective but Bollywood seems to understand how to do spectacle and "big dumb action sequences" a lot more than modern hollywood blockbusters. If i'm gonna watch a massive choreographed battle/dance sequence/CGI action scene it should actually be cool or have some purpose in the movie, y'know?

I don't think this is bollywood, though, this is South Indian cinema. As over the top as Bollywood movies are with their actions scenes, southerners crack out action. Not a big fan of slicing necks with bananas but this movie looks ridiculously fun. Like Inglorious basterds except with Br*ts instead of Nazis.

I've heard that comparison a few times and it's not a million miles off. There were only a few other people in my screening but there was still some hooting and hollering at a few key moments of ownage. It is VERY violent throughout though, to an extent that surprised me.

omfg i love how absurd the violence is

also is this about a muslim guy and a hindu guy teaming up to do extreme violence against brits, including smashing their heads open with motorcycles? if so, BASED ALERT

Welcome to Bollywood. The violence is absurd and no one kisses.
I forget what movie it is but there’s one where the cop protagonist drags the bloodied corpse of the corrupt politician villain into the police station and kills the fucker as he begs for his life while everyone claps.

However the positive portrayal of Muslims is an unexpected but appreciated touch in this one.

there's a ton of CGI of all stripes in this however there's also a lot of kickass stunt work, great fight (and dance!) choreo, not to mention it is all very legibly edited for the most part

There's not a ton of gunplay tbh but I don't think I recall any squibs

I've really liked the Indian historical films I've seen (often fun action, great sets/costumes and they're usually about fighting the British). I'll have to watch this one too!

Oh my god I'm super excited. I've been trying to enjoy media from other cultures while deprogramming my own country's xenophobia. This one looks great!

    Thanks, comrade!
