Again, Pig is my favorite performance of mine, and I think that movie, along with Scorsese’s Bringing Out The Dead are arguably my two best movies as a whole
:feral-hog:
I'm no Nic Cage buff, but I saw Pig recently and it is probably the best performance I've seen from him. A very good movie all around.
Yeah, I know part of the magic for me was going in thinking I would be laughing at a John Wick knockoff, which it definitely was not, but I LOVED that movie.
It's a really weird sort of thing where people somehow believe that movie stars from the 80's or 90's, despite being pampered to an inch of their lives, have kept up on technology.
Lol, speaking of Nic Cage I watched this video recently: " Nicolas Cage Replies to Fans on the Internet | Actually Me | GQ" And it's funny how unenthusiastic Nic Cage is about answering these questions. I don't know if that's just what he's like, a self-serious guy who isn't in on the joke of Nicolas Cage. Or if he just didn't want to be there answering stupid questions for GQ.
i'm sure he's just justifiably contemptuous of his soy-facing fan boys
I really get the sense he thinks of himself as some kind of acting genius and his ego is bigger than Los Angeles county.
I thought about saying stuff similar to the following right after I started this thread ~2 hours ago. His reddit answers just didn't seem kosher to me. It seems like PR designed to please his fans.
I've often wondered how many AMA of famous/rich/powerful people involve them actually deigning to write replies themselves. This is nothing more than wild speculation on my part but it won't surprise me if Cage's replies weren't actually phrased and written by him. I can imagine him saying a sentence or to an assistant and then the assistant carefully wrote out replies in Cage's "voice".
An example is this answer...
I have a 2 regarding the movie Willy's Wonderland. Did you or the director decide that you would not say a single word the whole movie, and 2, every time you went to "recharge" (grab a can from 6 pack) was it secretly filled with alcohol or anything like that?

The dialogue for my character in Willy’s Wonderland was very sparse, so I decided with Kevin, the director, to go full Harpo Marx and take all the dialogue out because I thought that would be a fun acting challenge to see how much I could communicate without words and only with movement and facial expressions. I’m very happy with the results of Willy’s Wonderland. It was a good experiment.

The can question is an interesting one, and I hesitate to answer it for you because your relationship with the movie is far more important than my relationship with the movie and so you as the audience member can imagine and surmise whatever you want to be in that can. That is a far better answer and reason for the can than anything I could tell you. I want YOUR opinion as to what was in the can, because that was the right opinion.

He prefers to be referred to as a "thespian" so I'm gonna assume he takes himself way too seriously.
