The only federal democrat running for POTUS to throw a bone to trans people was Hillary Clinton. Biden did nothing while he was in power, but many of the reforms Clinton did did in fact help trans people. As SoS, she verified that trans people could change gender on their passports and use them to get jobs. This was huge because it bypassed many terrible state guidelines that made it impossible for trans people to get a job without outing themselves. It has likely saved some people's lives.
Compare this to Biden's track record. He supported DOMA. He increased police presence, which naturally impacts trans people poorly. I've had a cop reach for his gun on me once, he was surprised when he checked my ID and realized I was trans / lying about my identity. I was just eating food in a fucking park minding my own business.
I voted for Hillary because she did something tangible for the trans community. Biden is a nod to the right-wing Southern Democrat part of the party, whereas Hillary at least tried to make a show on domestic policy. Both obviously suck ass on foreign politics, and that combined with domestic policy is why I'm voting Green.
So, the whole "do it for trans people" radlib talking point is basically a lie? Lol, I can't say I didn't expect that.
it definitely is in my pov. im sure theres plenty of trans people who disagree with me, but i cant say that my life has changed significantly other than the passport change from clinton between the trump-obama admin. still dont have that wap. ill vote and stan anyone who gives me a wap.
Yeah, I reluctantly voted for her too, this time is totally different. Biden is basically fascist light while also giving them an enemy in power to rally against. The same backlash to Obama being the first black president will be even harder when it's Kamala the woman of color who is also a cop as VP. Obviously I would never actually vote for Trump but I couldn't bring myself to vote for Biden (especially since I live in CA and it doesn't even matter how I vote in the presidential election).
i live in a swing state. im also a citizen of czechia. my current ballot choices are Greens and the Communist Party of Czechia and Moravia
Yeah I want to vote PSL but they're not on the ballot in all states so I'm probably going green to push for that 3%.
Damn shame those asshats are just bootlickers and not actual revolutionaries.
i think the greens have something that could be better than the KSCM if they use their funding on tangible things rather than solely electoral stuff once they hit 3%
you might also find it amusing that there is a joke from our town and it is that the closer you get to the poles the more communist you feel
"This is why we recognize the essential truths of Marxism as part of humanity’s body of cultural and scientific knowledge. We accept it with the naturalness of something that requires no further argument"
-Che Guevara
the joke is more that the poles do not like communists, vehemently so
this is coming from a town where the chief of police is a communist, and so are the majority of councilpeople
Sounds wonderful. Does the "closer to the Poles" joke have the same double entendre in Czech? Poles = polls, I mean.
yeah. kscm tries with that but the right wing faction is in charge of the party right now and it sucks. there are a few individuals in office that actually have read socialist literature and know that theyre talking about. my rep specifically is very pro-lgbt, wrote the damn bills, has read shit, and always has his bills watered down by dicks in the legislature. the city council is solidly red and dual power is being built but i think our city is the outlier there...
kscm has their own aoc who sounds like a complete moron when talking about socialism in any real sense and she is unfortunately quite popular among the right portion.
not the best. i blame it mostly on how feckless the leadership can be at times. there are obviously good reps and bad reps. theres around 2000 communists holding office in all of czechia out of ~60,000 seats, to put it into perspective. generally mountainous regions that were invaded by more than the nazis are the most communist. coal working seems to make you a commie too.
the cssd, the social democrats, have roughly the same number of seats total. these are the only really left parties in the country. they both allied with the centrists that have some weird populist policies (ANO) and are in government with them. ano could maybe be described as keynesian, however their leader is one of the richest men in czechia.
we have a white aoc-esque figure in katerina konecna in the kscm and shes said a lot of dumb shit that doesnt connect with workers that well, but does connect with radlibs. the central leadership is right wing in comparison to the general party. my current reps are pretty rad though.
I agree that Biden will not be revolutionary for trans people, but I feel that he will at least be better than Trump who is actively rolling back what little LGBT protections existed.
Yeah this is a lib take but I'm just sharing my thoughts. Either way, I'm not voting, because I don't live in the american shithole and I don't think I can commit voter fraud from overseas.
meh. doesnt matter much to me without healthcare, honestly. the 'protections' might exist but it certainly doesnt feel enforced. its all just slips of paper.
vote third party to apply electoral pressure leftwards. don't waste your vote on unelectable biden.
You missed the second paragraph and inadvertently made Russiagate real
yeah but to be fair, i was super high at the time, and its not like it's any more fraudulent than 3/4 of the other shit that's gonna happen.
I say this shit. and I'm from CA. I've been locked up. harris' policies were not fun. trump will kill me. biden+harris... will also probably kill me. I'm so fucking sick of this 'biden or you're a trumper' bullshit. honestly, if I didn't have any lefties to talk to, i'd be voting trump because I want to see them die too, and want to be able to say I did it out of fucking spite.
clinton was a disgusting political animal establishment piece of shit. but a lot of shitbag americans would need to look at a woman in charge, and have to figure out what to call her sleazy rapist husband while he's being the president's husband. it's not nothing. I choked down my vomit and voted for that.
one of my biggest fears is getting sent to a male prison despite being cis passing. im a victim. i get coldsweats every time a cop approaches me.
fuck copmala harris and rapist joe. id rather die than vote for them.
this is a real fear. been in that position in jail (not prison), and it wasn't great. but also they kept me in solitary because I was on some lists and they knew I would ABSOLUTELY cause a riot. so that was a fun few days until I could see a lawyer.
I wouldn't be worried honestly.
Biden stands for absolutely nothing, he might as well be a blank slate at this point. He's a sockpuppet for the establishment democrats, the man is too old to make any decisions himself.
The LGBTQ community is important to the Democrats because they realized that being inclusive towards them requires minimal structural change and it earns them tons of good boy points from idpol libs. It's the lowest investment for the highest rewards.
EDIT: Assuming you're white of course
quite white. i could use white out as eye shadow.
and nah. you can talk idpol but functionally nothing changes. working conditions, healthcare, etc. will still be very very very bad for lgbt people under a dem setup. even discrimination will still be terrible and have almost no recourse. i just want them to implode so we can maybe get a left wing situation going on
functionally nothing changes for anyone, but it's much better than the trump admin actively taking your rights away
i think out of any marginalized group, the difference for LGBT people under dems and republicans is the biggest
idk. i dont feel a difference. every new victory just opens up a new way for them to fuck you over. get married now? lol youre blacklisted as soon as we find out
you're LGBT, but also a leftist most likely... domestic terrorism designation is still on the books until courts strike it down, just kind of..... sitting there ready to be used as justification for something.
Thanks for meme'ing me :lenin-heart:
(unless this isn't a bit, tell me if it's not <3)
I didn't read it as such, merely an alternative perspective to your post which I also found made decent points.
