I'm assuming that will be one of the first things to happen. Trump was great for user metrics I'm sure. Jeff Tiedrich must be creaming his pants right now.

All the now-forgotten about reply-guys will gather under Trump's first tweet back to unleash the great zingers that they have been working on for over a year.

So this is funny and all and I haven’t been following this too closely other than reading headlines so I may not have the full picture but it is pretty fucked up that one of the largest media companies can say “no we don’t want you to buy us” and this guy can go “mmmmm but I’m gonna” lol

Musk is using his Tesla shares as collateral.

He is pretty much saying that Twitter is worth more than Tesla to him.

I mean twitters potential as a propaganda machine vs gender reveal parties on wheels, probably a fair assessment lol

Saying "we don't want you to buy us" is usually just a negotiating ploy in these deals. The other owners of twitter are just other billionaire capitalists, hedge funds acting on behalf of capitalists, or mutual fund companies who only care about ROI.

That’s true. They certainly don’t have any concerns about twitter other than how much money it can make them. I guess i should expand to the obvious, it’s fucked up that one person can just buy into such a major media company like this. Nationalize the internet and all that

Everyone remember how tumblr was sold to Yahoo for $1.1 billion, and then resold later for $3 million, a 99.8% drop in value? That was fun.

It's as if social platforms are extremely hard to monetize without destroying the platforms themselves.

He's using $21 Billion in cash as part of the financing.

But yeah, Musk is totally homeless and billionaires don't actually have real money :fidel-sarcastic:

You fool, you idiot. Musk has been couch surfing to save his Pennies for this deal. Maybe if you millennials learned a little something called sacrifice and stopped looking for hand outs you could bootstrap your way to buying one of the largest tech companies ever

Yeah it was always weird to me the "resistance" to the buy out lol, it was some performance bullshit to make it seem like billionaires can't just, like, buy the news. All of the news.

The resistance to the buyout was because twitter's stock price has recently dipped, and they didn't want to cash out at a lower price than they might otherwise be able to.

Now come on, he will face harsh penalties from the SEC amounting to thousands of dollars in fines, maybe even in the 5 digits! The tens of millions he will make will be that much less sweet.
