Love to hear from Americans who have never experienced life anywhere else what a wonderful place the U.S. is compared to everywhere else. They say this with the utmost confidence as if their take isn't wholly based on propaganda and literally nothing else.

So many countries in the world, even developing ones, can keep literal human feces off the streets. But not in many American cities!

Free public restrooms? No, thats communism. Us real Americans will insist on closing them, and then complain incessantly about shit on the streets

yeah. in cities with terrible housing policies (and a large contingent of unhoused people as a result), the "nice" parts of the urban core will not have any public bathrooms. if you walk into a little eatery or cafe, they will exclude you from using their bathroom as you are not a customer. obviously, if you look like an earner (suit+tie, business professional, cop) you can of course use the bathroom.

but the unhoused are not going to buy a $7 latte to use the can, so in their desperation or understandable spite, humans will shit in the street or on the sidewalk. to me, human shit on the streets and sidewalks of a city is an indictment of the city, but it's generally used as more of a "homeless people are so gross" trope / joke in my experience.

edit: i grew up in a city that was like this and moved far away. sometimes i visit friends in "cool" cities and the culture shock of exclusive bathrooms always fucks me up. i'm a big pisser and shitter and if you don't want me to shit and piss up your town, make sure there's free bathrooms.

I saw someone post that it’s now more dangerous to be a student then a cop since kids have died of gunfire from school shootings then cops have been killed on duty this year and fuckers decided to well actually about how that’s not true.

Like shut the fuck up you losers and just admit how fucked up the situation is

Per statistics (shooting, dangers on job...) it is more deadly to be a pizza boy or a street sweeper than a cop; You won't hear much about this in fash media.

Cuba should have a reverse 'wet feet, dry feet policy' that the Gusanos took advantage of to become permanent residents in the US. Comrades who make it to Cuban land can become permanent residents of Cuba and those caught in the waters can be sent to a Socdem northern European country as punishment for their failure.

im honestly starting to wonder if going back to czechia is the way to go. i have already taken flights back there for healthcare because itd be cheaper than here x_x

but my ID and stuff is still fucked there and trans stuff is still fucked for czechia. and idk what the whole deal is on how id bring my bf with me tbh. def not going there permanently without him. might be a better option to move to ireland or something as an eu citizen idk :ira: maybe marry the bf and figure out how residency for that would work. dual citizenship as a trans person hurts my brain :stalin-stressed:

One of my sisters is seriously considering moving back from USA to Serbia (!!-of all places) back to us; the other one just came here to do some post-covid testing (thanks god everything turned out to be OK) since in Paris same stuff would be, like, ten times more expensive :thinkin-lenin:

In China covid testing is free for all. 100% government subsidized and you get a result on your phone's green code in a few hours.

Disagree. The US's current downfall is the result of decades of deregulation and hyper-neoliberalism reaching its logical end point, and while the EU are plagued by neoliberalism as well, it's nowhere near as bad anywhere here. European countries still have healthcare, labor laws and regulations in place, they have nowhere near the same police/military spending, and that will not all just change within 5 years.

The US have been on this exact course for decades, and while many European countries are on the same course, they're advancing at a much slower pace. Also, European countries are quite different from one another.

EU is speed-running the neoliberal collapse tho. The German Greens are basically just a wing of the US Democratic Party, and France + the UK (yeah technically not EU whatever) have a political culture that's even more crazy-RW than the US. I'd argue they're moving faster than the US did.

The US isn't collapsing because of racism. The US is collapsing because it squeezed every cent out of the workers it could, the people are dying because they can't afford healthcare and have no sick leave, and they're going on murderous rampages because they live in a hyper-individualist dystopia that tells you that if you're at the bottom it's your fault, nobody's coming to help you and go fuck yourself. Because people work 3 jobs but can't afford rent, or even the appliance fees to look at potential rental homes.

None of this is happening in Europe at a remotely comparable scale. The German Greens are socially comparable to the US Dems, but economically they are way left of them. They're both neoliberal and both shit, but they're like saying AOC and Joe Manchin are the same.

France is racist as hell, but they have stable labor laws. If you break your leg in France, that's not all your savings gone in an instant. You have paid maternity leave, up to 30 paid vacation days a year and if you're sick you get paid to stay the fuck home.

This is why Finland, which is ranked 10th globally in gun ownership per capita, had only 2 mass shootings between 2010-2020 in which a grand total of 4 people died. Because the Finnish workers aren't ground into fucking dust like Americans are, because they actually get to live a life with at least some dignity and aren't systematically sacrificed for the magic line.

If you think France is anywhere near the absolute capitalist perversion that the United States is, you need to get your head checked. Is it a country full of racist shitheads? Yes, absolutely. But racism doesn't cause the collapse of an empire.

The US have flourished while they were just as, if not more racist than they are now, but you know what was different? Buying a home costed less than a 10th of what it does now. People had at least the illusion that there was a future. That is gone now, you have to work 3 jobs until you're 85 or until you get shot by a mass shooter or a cop. That's why the US are crumbling and why France, as shit as Macron is, will be fine.

All of those protections that Europe has are going Bye Bye, at a rapid pace. And Europe is boned because they are the US's vassal, and the US will save itself before it saves them. They are still trying to cut off the Russian gas, for the privilege of paying the US and our close friends even more money!

A lot of that is because of American soft power. A lot of immigrants will admit that Hollywood and American culture being everywhere played a big part in them choosing the US. I ended up returning to my country after my family moved to the US. My reasoning was for the sense of community that I wasn't getting in the US.

He's right that the US is one of the better places to live and I would have agreed with him if he said that. The issue is saying it's one of the best in human history.
