I really enjoyed the texture and density of the late-night posting spree, and I think the cyber-stalking elements really added to the overall complexity of the composition. I'm feeling a solid two out of ten.

I don't get mad at him if he has a bad take because it’s his opinion, which he will always remind everyone. I find him to lack the pretension of a lot of critics who write for major outlets, so he has some good will going for him.

I know who he is and I've never been mad at him. I don't get how on the internet, everything is a trend that everybody eventually gets tired of EXCEPT for the act of getting worked up about other peoples' takes. I'm just as bored of that as I am of covid discourse or the floss dance or putting siracha on everything, but for some reason it never goes out of style. Who has the energy anymore?

remember that one dude here who thought no one actually liked music because he personally didn't enjoy music?

Wasn't that actually sad though because he had some kind of aphasia and couldn't hear tones and rhythms right?

I'm rarely salty about Fantano takes, but the fact he was incredibly close to giving Ants From Up There a 10 and his one complaint about the album was that the drums in Snow Globes were too loud, tilted me to no end.

Unless you exclusively listen to artists phoning it in to get their radio singles out and then fill the rest of the album with forgettable filler, I can't imagine not at least having the full album in your playlists. I won't always listen to the full album in order, but there's a bunch of genres where you'd be insane not to at least do so on occasion.

Some albums are crafted to be listened in one go, and most albums have some kind of cohesion tying the tracks together.

For example, The Rainbow Goblins by Masayoshi Takanaka is best listened in one sitting - there's a progression (and story) between the tracks that's lost when the tracks are split up or out of order.

Having said that, there are artists out there who should probably just release EPs and compilations instead of albums with a hit single or two and filler. A well crafted album is an art in itself.

      Depends on the genre.

Most of the albums I listen to have good sonic and thematic cohesion and no skips. Folk, indie, dad rock, emo-alt-metal, I'll usually listen to album-wise. Sometimes I'll make playlists that are just me reordering an album or cutting some tracks.

Pop is usually for playlists, though I'll listen to new albums from artists that I like for a few days. Kpop in particular has a different typical release structure than western pop music which makes it more suited to playlists (EPs are the norm, lots of standalone singles)

Unless I have a particular mood or something that generic nondescript songs in a playlist would fill, I literally never listen to anything except full albums or manually going to specific songs on spotify to listen to them when I feel like listening to them.

Huh? Idk I also grew up in an Era of iTunes and singles and still, so many albums are worth listening to in order. I don't exclusively listen to albums, but mostly yeah I'll throw on an album and listen through, alpt of people do this too. I feel like for many many artists you can't really appreciate them fully without hearing out their whole artistic thing that is an album.

Also how albums change and grow on you, different songs start to sound better as you "get" them. Like, for example, cosmogramma and LA by flying lotus are albums that absolutely should be listened through. Faces by Mac miller is another one that's worth listening to all the way through. Idk I could list albums but there's too many

Don't know who this guy is, but I feel this. I have this problem. I'm super picky about music. I know its assholish to shit on other's music they like and are playing, so I bite my tongue (its not like I'm a bastion of perfect taste), but also I hate listening to stuff that doesn't vibe with me. I dunno if its related to like, hating mouth noises, or people jiggling their legs for hours on end in quite classrooms, and other misophonia stuff, or if I am just an asshole, but I do hate

My soft spot for Fantano is the weirdly wide range of what he reviews. New hip hop albums? Of course. New British post punk record? Why not. A new hardcore-prog fusion album from a band that hasn't dropped anything in 20 years? Sure it's a fucking banger.

I wouldn’t say it was actually “full of Nazi dogwhistles”, there was some shitty article written in bad faith that immediately got ripped to shreds by everyone, or at least that’s how I remember it. Funny enough, he’s been moving left since then

The trick is to listen to weird (and mostly bad) music that is never reviewed by YouTubers who are trying to make content for a mass audience.
