They'll keep rapidly painting new red lines after the old ones are crossed like some sort of classic Warner Bros cartoon.

      Axios in the near future...

According to a senior aide - "The president forcefully pushed back and told the Prime Minister Netanyahu the chaos caused by the IDF's incursion into Rafah must end."

      ---

      What happened that morning...

"Mr. Prime Minister - I'm going to draw another red line. I'm warning you. The gloves are off now!"

"I hear you. I see you. I am listening to you."

      "I don't understand."

      "I know."

Does anyone else also hate reading Axios, not due to political takes but because of their ultra-condensed writing format?

It's so jolting and I always feel like I'm missing two-thirds of an article.

Here's some inside-the-beltway gossip for the lanyards and there will be more sprinkled throughout. Don't you feel part of DC this way?

          • Important. This isn't actually important. It's the spin.

          • Noteworthy. There is some actual context and news in here but again there's a lot of spin.

          • Why this is important. As a reporter I have a certain number of words to put in this section so I gotta do this. Hold on - I need a couple more. Done!

Now here's some more inside-the-beltway gossip for the lanyards. If you're reading along - don't you feel clever?

President Biden "dangerously close to having it up to here" with Israel's war in Gaza, a source close to the administration said. "A few more years of this and it's gonna be time to start thinking about some real consequences."

Genocide Joe is going to write a note to Zyklon Bibi's parents, telling them he's been a very naughty boy.

Then he's going to send him weapons designed explicitly to kill large amounts of children.

Except in this scenario the child tells the teacher to fuck off and the parent agrees with them.

Saw someone basically say this means we can't blame Biden for the genocide any more. Insane take.

Like when I tell my SO I told the bartender I was only there for one so really the crashed car in the front yard is his fault.

Except this is a bad example because the bar might actually get in trouble because we hold bartenders more personally responsible for their actions than American presidents.

If only Biden had ever had a front row seat to what happens if a president makes a big thing of declaring a red line and then doesn't do anything when it's crossed.

I don't follow because I feel like there's a lot of Biden lore during his and Obama's presidency. Which incident are you referencing?

Obama did a lot of "red line" rhetoric regarding Assad/Syria and then would just make a new "red line" whenever the previous one was ignored.

Ngo DIem was assassinated in a CIA-backed coup after his repression against Buddhists couldn't be contained and was fucking up the US' war efforts.

What are the chances Bibi here gets a visit from the interior minister in these coming days?
