Not only does nobody passionately love Biden - it's impossible for Biden to make anybody feel that way. He just can't do it. Not only will he never fight with the GOP - on a fundamental level he doesn't even understand it was vital to start fighting against them last year.

If Trump's biggest fans were asked what food does Trump make them think of - they might say the best cheeseburger they ever had in their life that they never could forget. They might go on and on talking about how perfect, thick, and juicy that burger was.

In contrast Biden's seems 100% incapable of inspiring the dem base. He's about inspiring as an old slice of cheap American cheese. If it's the middle of the night you want to make a sandwich and you really want cheese - maybe you use that slice. But you'll never have fond memories of the food.

A friend of mine is in his 80s and he's a lib so I tend not to rant about Biden. But he's fallen into the trap of saying "What can Biden do? There's the filibuster..." And yesterday when I said Biden should issue executive orders like crazy despite the court he said "But the supreme court would just strike it all down."

I am a gigantic defeatist so I felt pretty weird trying to make him feel better but said "So what? Let the GOP justices strike it down. Biden and the dems need to fight. They've got to fight." I wanted to add "Why can't they fight?" but he looked glum enough as it was.

Biden and dems would say "If fight - we could lose!" So? You're losing already and you're taking the country down with you. Biden won't even legalize cannabis or just cancel student loans in a sane way without moronic means testing. He seems determined to destroy his party and give the country to the fascists so he can try to prove to himself his fantasy of an America that died many decades ago is real and still exists.

The filibuster excuse for not advocating popular policy is the most annoying. Making your enemies actually filibuster popular policies is a good thing...unless the truth of the matter is that you're also opposed to those popular policies and don't want to inspire mass organizing.

Of course, no one is really filibustering anything. You just hear that it could theoretically happen and therefore nothing you might benefit from can be attempted.

Yo I lost my shit when I found out they suspended the filibuster just for raising the debt ceiling.

How long ago was this, you ask? December.

        December.

At least get them to stand up there a good 48+ hours before you call it good, make them work for it

No shit. If they want to do a filibuster then they have to do all the work. Let them. You just get to sit back and relax while they just make themselves look like an asshole for hours on end. Of course, this only works in a government that intends to respond to public need. Under the current circumstances it doesn't matter who's liked and who's hated because only the rich will be served anyway.

How many of them could even stand more than 10 minutes at a time at this point?
