I'm unemployed rn, I have an ok laptop... would really appreciate some suggestions that aren't first person shooters. EDIT: don't mind me, I'll be looking for torrents of your suggestions.
Emulate games and you'll have an endless library of the best games ever made in history.
Emulation can be computationally expensive though. The library essentially stretches to the PS2 generation, with the wii and maybe the wiiu unless you have a new desktop with a high end cpu.
Step 1: Pick a console to emulate
Step 2: Download and install an emulator
Step 3: Download the ROMs for said console
Step 4: Configure emulators (controls etc) and play games
No probs, if you got questions or need troubleshooting, just ask.
Faster than light (and if you like it, their sequel Into the Breach is also a banger)
Currently melting my brain with FTL, can confirm its a solid Rogue-ish style game.
Don’t Starve if you like survival games.
Stardew Valley, farming sim with cute relationships ala Harvest Moon
Portal 1 + 2, should run on basically anything made after 2015
Faster Than Light, spaceship RTS roguelike
Crypt of the necrodancer is a top down TPG that is also a rhythm game. It's really fun to play.
Seconded, it's got very sharp gameplay and it has a big community because there are some newer hd versions that I believe still run pretty light.
A shiver runs down your spine like ark of static electricity. Your mind once freely wandering over ideas, choices and possibilities becomes narrow focused on one thing. Disco elysium you simply MUST play it.
- Play disco elysium and free your soul.
- Keep scrolling and push down the thought
- Go back to shooter games. you like being miserable ( 4%)
- Play rimworld you hear it was fun.. and challenging
Spaceship HardbreakerHardship SpacebreakerHardspace Shipbreaker is a very fun game about cutting apart spaceships for salvage and not dying because your company has terrible safety standards. The game has really nice physics and flying around and using the grapple beam to move things and yourself is very fun.
StarCraft 2 is free, and has the option for super low settings that still looks fine. You don't have to give any money to Blizzard and there's really no pressing reason to do so with that game.
It also comes with absolute SHITLOADS of games in the Arcade and a ton of them are a blast. Basically very complex mods people make with the map editor.
For anyone who hasn’t played the Stanley Parable I cannot recommend it enough
