I mean going back further, Rome adopted Christianity as the state religion despite Rome also executing Christ, which is arguably more absurd.

Makes me really think about the ship of theseus. Can something that was created in a certain place and time, with allegories so specific to their moment in history, being slowly replaced over millenia. Can you call that Christianity? Is there a point in trying? The dialectics have been set in motion this is just so inherently a reflection of the psychotic qualities of American exceptionalism.

There is absolutely an unnamed religion floating around America that's unique to it and inextricably tied to. Call it Manifest Destiny turned inwards, but it's even got a wiki article: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_civil_religion

          We should name it.

All you gotta do to name it is decide on a name and write articles starting with the phrase "[Religion name] or The American Civil Religion as some like to call it is blah blah blah blah".

Make enough of them and others will copy the phrase and reuse it.

If you want it to catch on in reddit circles then you reverse the starting phrase and use "The American Civil Religion or 'Religion Name' as I like to call it..." in well written comments about it. Others will repeat it.

No reason you can't make this happen the same as Flying Spaghetti Monster was pushed. As long as the name is good we could be the ones to control that, making sure it's good and snarky and useable as an insult.

If this is successful, I give it a year before chuds start self-identifying as [Religion name]

Good. The moment that happens you begin to separate Christianity from the state cult which opens the door for Christians to actually be Christ-like and accurately call these people not-Christians.

Like, there’s a reason why those European kick out all the extreme nuts out of their continent to North America, to the detriment of the native here

Christianity is a framework for empire that was born in the Rome and is a able to morph itself to any culture to infect it. It is the imperial stamp and instruction booklet that is imposed on people to either perpetuate or create empire.

It just feels like this shit :liberalism:

      For conservatives.

Its just a bunch of dorks sporting their merch. If I wanted to up the ante, I'd get a wall full of America-themed bobble heads and kowtow with an entire varsity football team. But - like - it isn't even strictly fascist. These losers aren't doing anything except genuflecting to another commodity symbol. Its all just hollow performative bullshit stage-managed by a couple of dorky middle-aged shmucks for fake internet points.

    lol they own two flags

    also the fucking thing

When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men … but when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your father who is unseen.

It goes even deeper. The whole thing with Jesus was you should do good deeds in secret in the same way. However Americans are so :brainworms: that now each individual Petit bourgeoisie has to choose the best way to direct charity - both for their own psychic gratification and the tax breaks etc.

Instead of a welfare state we have thousands of insane "charities" that are just monuments to vanity.

I'm as critical of American Evangelicalism as anyone on this site, due to me being raised in that whole world and it fucking me up a bit. But I can't help but think that as recently as 20 years ago, this shit would have been criticized by the fundies for being heretical, worshipping a flag instead of a cross.
