Reason mag likes moderate republicans.

My point is sometimes the strategy will backfire and dems will get the maga elected. The consequences of an accidental discharge can be bad enough that you just never let the muzzle pass a person.

And Trump is still favored to win, second favored is DeSanta, third is Joe Biden.

This is short term desperation strategy. This is not 4D chess meta gaming.

They're all one big capitalist party. It doesn't matter who wins, what matters is making it look like it's democratic for as long as possible.

Moving the window right is preferable for liberals to moving the window left. They are happy with moving the window right if it shuts out socialists regardless of the fascist consequences. Normalising the far right is a worthwhile strategy if your goal is to create a political landscape where the left is considered too fringe.

A few QAnon shitheads have won local elections in my state thanks to democrats pouring millions of fucking dollars into their campaigns.

The thing is that even if most of them lose (some are in blue districts where any Republican would likely lose), it is still free exposure and marketing for their crazy ideas. And next election, that same candidate (or someone less openly crazy) will look more "normal" and can get more votes.

its the pied piper strategy, they think if the most extreme republican wins the nomination people will be "forced" to vote blue. it worked out really well in 2016
