I remember he wasn't popular with the old /r/, but now that the algorithm is offering me his takes they don't sound so bad. He's cutting up the dems, not falling for the Bernie and AOC grifts, afaik he didn't buy into Russiagate or Syria

        it's a michael brooks(rip)/majority report thing.

just a name they called some leftist commentators who are aggressively ignorant about the things they talk about. so much so, that they end up being a stooge on tucker carlson n shit.

i think dore was the inspiration for the name tbh

He opined on the Syria war for years, and then, in 2018 or 2019, on air found out about Rojava for the first time. Also, he cheered on the Lava Jato prosecution of Lula in Brazil. He seems like someone who doesn't really have a thorough understanding about a lot of things, but opines and makes jokes about them because other people do. I don't think it's bad if you watch him or whatever, as long as you understand to not automatically take what he says at face value, he's often wrong.

"Also, he cheered on the Lava Jato prosecution of Lula in Brazil. "

He had a single segment repeating the same story the MSM ran, which was "it's yet another corruption investigation into a problematic government". It's a bad take, but a mistake many made, sitting here in 2020 and pretending that what glenn greenwald has spent years to uncover was obvious is disingenuous.

Did not know about his take on Lava Jato. Of course he's not pretending to be more than a comedian but he's been platforming Grayzone people which is at least good.

Yeah, his instincts are good, his knowledge is less so. It's not bad to watch him or anything. And he does platform some good people.

Then because the majority report team destroyed him so badly he was a real bitch about it

Yeah lmao he literally flash-cut one of his visitors saying "I watch you, sam's show, TYT, and a couple other channels" - he fucking cut out "sam's show" from the line, absolutely pathetic and hilarious

That's how I knew he wasn't just a bad-take guy, he's also small as fuck. And I didn't even know he kept silent about Michael Brooks dying. Fuck him

Dissenting view and will probably get downvoted for this but whatever. I actually like Jimmy Dore, even though I will admit he can be kinda stupid at times. He's willing to venture outside progressive orthodoxy, sometimes it takes him on the right path (realizing the Dems are shit and we need something new, against voting for Biden) and sometimes it takes him down stupid paths (Hurr durr Tulsi Gabbard, though after she endorsed Biden he dropped her, hey he's consistent). So all in all he's a mixed bag, I just take the good and ignore the bad. I just appreciate he's willing to platform people and views that are often persona non grata on "progressive tube".

I don't get the Jimmy hate either. People here watches more libshit like TYT or Sam Seder who were categorically wrong on Russiagate and put all their chips into electoralism by focusing too much on horse race politics. Those are much more importsnt issues to be wrong about, rather than Jimmy's support for Lavo Jato and him being a Tulcel, both of which he quickly drop after realizing he was wrong. For comparison, lib like Cenk still double down on Russiagate to this very day and think that Adam Schiff is not a political hackjob.

Jimmy is staunchly against voting the lesser of two evil and constantly speaks out against 2 party duopoly. In this regards he's right and more radical than Noam Chomsky. People here don't rate Jimmy because yeah he's kinda dumb, always angry, and dont speak in the flowery language of theories. But in terms of practical praxis of radicalizing people out of the 2 party duopoly, calling out the left (especially Obama and Obamanites of whom Jimmy had seething disdain for) fuckups, Jimmy is a very effective communicator.

tldr; Jimmy is effective when talking about the systemic problem of neoliberalism. His solutions though most of the time fell short.

Damn I wish I could copy my old shit from reddit. Basically, he pushes the anger button constantly in the same way Fox does. It's good for learning why the dems suck ass, how they fuck you over, and why the clintons are utterly contemptible, but once you learn that stuff you gotta move on. I think of JD as an important one potential transitional figure in the lib to left pipeline, but it is important that people being swung to leftism don't dwell too long imo. Other things include his own admissions that he would sell out for money, that he is often very careless about sourcing info or boosting bad stuff while hiding behind the "comedian defense", and also he was a Tulcel.

Jimmy's usually ahead of everyone by a couple of months, people mistake this for him being dumb and wrong. Most of the sub here doesn't watch him, but watch lib bullshit like Sam Seder, so they just spread bs about him since there's been a feud going for a while now.

wow this place is even more lib than the reddit one

dore is alright, kinda an ass at times and was a little too not tough on the cons for my taste at times. he's usually got good overall takes even if he isn't great at explaining it

You "think" you heard that? How about you back that up with an actual source.

It seems very unlikely, considering the fact that he tweeted this: https://twitter.com/jimmy_dore/status/1299056937217044481

Yes. Because I wasn't sure. That's how you indicate uncertainty in the hope that someone who needs a nap and a hug doesn't jump down your throat for being wrong.

We have to be judicious with what we post. Lots of stuff takes off by someone saying they think something and people repeating it without qualifiers.

I don't get why you would answer a question you don't know the answer to. Do some research before. Right now you're just smearing someone who actually does good work by bringing on people from the Grayzone to a broad audience and debunking the Russiagate-hysteria. But I have to admit that was a good burn. Bravo.

Lame, Jimmy's critique of the dems is rooted in an understanding of what political parties are supposed to do, which you would know if you ever watched any of his stuff.

At least come with some critique thats rooted in real life.
