Right now, DSA nominally endorses her as the Least Bad Option. I can't imagine anyone who would turn out for her tomorrow with a DSA membership that doesn't endorse her today.
But I can imagine a number of people who might feel alienated if she takes an active role in DSA while still flirting with mainstream Dem leadership in DC.

Still one of the few politicians I donate to. Nobody has a perfect track record, everybody has blindspots....but I'll stand in solidarity with one of the few voices in congress willing to take any kind of stance against AIPAC and take the right crticism of US foreign policy. The fact that the Democratic party was willing to primary her is enough reason to support her IMO.

Results like this are a limiting factor on how cool and good a politician can be. If you're too cool, you'll draw so much heat and opposition money that you'll be out of a job.
The strategy for people in these types of positions is to be as cool as you can be while staying in power, use that power to lower barriers for cooler people who are not in power, and be ready to go full cool if the winds shift.

Yeah, it's tough to ride the line between calling on folks to do more and maintaining an understanding of what is feasible at the moment. Then you also have to factor in how less radical actions can enable more radical actions without letting that become an excuse.

this is anecdotal, but a friend of mine works as an organizer in Minneapolis, and from what he's gathered a significant portion of Minneapolitans think Frey/Walz were too soft on protestors during summer 2020

It was a bit closer than one would like, but Ilhan essentially weathered the perfect storm.
- Samuels came into the race with a ton of name recognition and political capital.
- The AIPAC may not have been involved, but there was still a lot of money coming to Samuels from wealthy and/or conservative donors.
- The StarTribune is the biggest media influence in town, and has been fighting Ilhan for 4 years, and gave Samuels a lot of good press.
- The riots and police issues have been marinating for two years, giving libs and conservatives a lot of ammunition against any "Defund" candidate.
- Moderates have a lot of momentum after Frey won and the public safety amendment failed just last year.
