I've never once tried to learn anything about Cumtown, even in the r/chapo days. The name just makes it seem like a fucking dumb waste of time.

    Rest in piss regardless!

The die hard fans are in cope mode pretending that the new podcast is funny without Stav. It isn't and they get really angry and call you slurs when you point it out.

Its definitely better without Stav. Their Patreon earnings increased by ~30% within a month of his departure, so it seems like people are mostly glad he's gone.

I actually agree. I never really listened during it's peak but in clips Stav just seems to have the wrong vibe. Like, they're all insulting each other and calling each other gay but he'd get weirdly defensive and push back. The recent episodes Adam and Nick actually seem like friends joking around

They're milking a parasocial cow. Imagine what would happen if Felix or Matt left the show and will started begging people to sign up to the patreon. They're spending like 1000% more money on a show that isn't half as funny in my opinion.

Idk, the 'new' pod just started, not sure what direction they're taking it. A few of them were great so far, though. :shrug-outta-hecks:

Their subreddit got banned at around the same time as ours, so they went to their own off-site reddit clone.

Whereas chapochat was a nightmarish storm of endless struggle sessions, their site was quickly taken over by virulent racists. Honestly, I'm amazed that we outlasted them.

Edit: also, I find it very charming that so few of the posters here seem to know about them. They were obsessed with us, and constantly having a low level red scare, with users accusing each other of being Chapo infiltrators.

honestly that was what the cumtown sub was by the end of it. the site was worse but the subreddit was pretty dogshit too.

The podcast was pretty shit just being honest, not as reactionary as redscare but they regularly said removed a lot.

Yeah. It would make an interesting case study on the ways online communities become radicalized. Once it went private, a relatively small number of users were able to successfully shift the political ideology of the whole community.

The cumtown hosts knew what kind of community they were fostering, the same could be said about opie and anthony if you ever listened to them.

well, Adam and Stav kind of hated that part of the community because they'd be victims of their harassment. Nick thought it was funny in an extremely online, irony poisoned sort of way.

even before it went private it was pretty dogshit. i only browsed it in its last year i think and the sub just got worse and worse. there were a bunch of frothing at the mouth extremely online racist shitheads who were able to kind of steer the sub into being worse and worse.

Nick Mullen has definitely said it a few times, usually though all three said removed and removed very liberally.

I remember one of the founders of stupidpol being one of the most aggressively prominent voices arguing that, when he wasn't going on 100+ comment rants defending the honor of the google evopsych manifesto guy.

Wait, does anyone remember what corticoefferentcrab's alt was when he came back to the sub after being banned? I know he got IDed pretty fast but mostly laid low and avoided another ban AFAIK. It wasn't whatever Haz's account was, right? Because he was always very Haz-like in retrospect and realizing there's a chance that's who it was is filling me with a weird blend of amusement, curiosity, and horror.

I’ve been watching his standup and his crowd work is fucking next level. And honestly I’ve enjoyed Nick’s stuff too. Why the podcast was so full of bigotry and just a bunch of boring dogshit is beyond me. Their standup isn’t like that. Although I’ve heard they were similarly confused about why people listened to them shoot the shit and made fun of their patrons

The forum is divided on the subject, but I am probably the most vocal supporter of Cumtown on the forum. There are alot of caveats with that support though, and the sub and the websites are pretty shit places to post, too into just repeating the racist bits.

I don’t understand whether the people on this website like this podcast or not.

      :I-was-saying:

Nick Mullen is a funny guy and Adam Friedland makes a good setup for a punchline. Still miss Stav, but so far TAFS has kept me entertained by weight of their guests alone.

I like the Cumtown podcast. A lot of people here like it, but a fair number of people here hate it. And they're totally justified in not liking it.

Nick Mullen is genuinely reactionary in a lot of ways, and is every bit as right-adjacent as he is left-adjacent.

I still like the podcast because it is (sometimes) extremely funny.

Now, the off-site reddit clone that this post was about? It was basically Stormfront. And they hated the podcast lol

The admin announced that he was deleting the forum because he didn't want to go through what happened to null from kiwifarms.
