CHINA BUYING UP BARBADOS
NO DON'T ASK WHY THERE'S A "SCOTLAND DISTRICT"
curious how it comes they needed 30000 Chinese vaccine doses even though that was developed later than the western vaccines and the west had plenty of time to either donate their own vaccines or help with production in the region :thinking-about-it:
How dare they… give Barbados stuff they need instead of just extracting wealth from them?
"Nooooo, you can't just treat the global South like humanrinos!"
"Hur hur, infrastructure development go brrrrr."
"The EVIL Chinese SOLD Barbados 30 electric buses! This is imperialism in action!" - The biggest empire in world history
Gotta love when libs go on about Chinese imperialism, when literally all of this except the hotel is benign aid
western governments could have also shelled out for improvements like this but they wanted to be imperialist instead. Reaping what you sow.
nooooo don't build a robust railroad network in my country. i, a liberal, would be so owned!
Every single one of these things is a good thing, with the exception of the spa, depending on what they do with it (not clear from this image).
China could cure cancer itself and the west would find a way to shit all over it.
Cuba has a lung cancer vaccine and, yes, it's been shit on
Barbados still relies heavily on tourism for foreign capital. Building a state run spa would be a good way to make sure the profit from that industry goes directly to Barbados and isn't extracted by Hilton.

"Whenever the British visit, we get a lecture. Whenever the Chinese visit, we get a hospital."
I know this quote, but I don't know where it's from. Can you help me find a source for my :LIB: friends?
Not exactly the quote you're looking for, but similar sentiment:
“China plans and builds but the US plans and bombs,” [Adams Bodomo] added.
Edit: I thought it was a quote from the Liberian official who talked about Chinese loans versus IMF loans, but it turns out it was from an anonymous kenyan official, and as far as I can see, the source is a tweet.
Uh is this a pro-China piece designed as an anti-China hit piece? Because all of this is good lmao.
So why didn't the western governments do that.
It's a free market with competition, China is providing the better offer, I thought westerners were all about that free market shit.
"Barbados is uuuuh, here-ish... Google it, not our job here at this journalistic (:not-a-journalist:) publication!"
Yes, all of this is good, but could we talk about how funny the choice of inluding a limp British flag being sad in the graphic is?
Yeah, that has to be intentional. This is not exactly a fringe visual metaphor. Bronze age people with no real conception of a nation state would understand what this is implying about the British.
