As we all know if a rich person dies their company immediately goes out of business and all their workers are buried with them.

Elon Musk does seem like the type who would demand that his employees be entombed with him like the Pharaohs of old.

okay what if the old guy was the president?

Back up the trolley and go over again to make sure the job is really done :lenin-shining:

Just keep adding pointless provisions: The old guy with cancer is the president. He also promised you lots of money if you let him live. He is also your loving father. Your mother is watching you pull the switch and will judge you accordingly. A nuclear bomb will also go off destroying a major city if he dies by unnatural causes.

I realized after commenting that i changed the trolley problem from 1 old guy with cancer to 1 old guy plus untold tens or hundreds of thousands of people with the nuke thing. lol oh well

Lol I know right? It's like "yeah you can kill the rich guy, but you're very mean to do so! Oh and also his wealth goes with him. Oh and also he employs hundreds of people. Oh and also muh taxes. Oh and also and also and also-"

I one day hope to be a rich man, so I must justify becoming one in a society that is increasingly aware of both the problems of extreme wealth discrepancy, and the actual lack of contributions made to society by said rich people

Oh yeah and the homeless people are the real leeches

you might think a social and economic revolution is necessary to create a society which allows for the flourishing of all humankind, but if you look at my simulation where i've set $COMMUNISM_WORKS = False you'll see that that's absurd

Just to be clear, the rich guy's wealth dies with him if you kill him.

bro you gotta just trust me on this one, the extracted surplus value funneled into tangible, trackable capital/value stores immediately vanishes from the material realm when the ideas guy dies :theiss-explanation:

Honestly would be cooler if it did work that way. Stabbing Jeff Bezos to death would be the equivalent of blowing up the big droid ship so all the amazons power down and everyone’s saved

This would actually be an incredible bit idea in a game. Feel like it would be on brand for borderlands to fake crash your game to show off just how cool killing that last boss was

What you all are missing is that bosses have Metroid rules applied to them. Once you defeat the boss of a corporation, you have to leave before the company self-destructs and all the loot is gone.

The real twist in this is that its literally the rich guy's trolley. He built it. He's rich because it runs people over. And the only reason you're at the control stick at all is because he's already ordered you to kill homeless people (and maybe a few friends and family) before this moment.

The greedy rich guy doesn't employ people, his company does. In fact running over the rich guy is the most moral thing to do because it'll make his employees happy, and none of the other options would do that.

lmao, his capital and property just vaporizes into thin air?

Also, even if you’re really such an asshole you believe homeless/unemployed people should die because they “only take without giving back”, you wanna know what class does that but at a rate that’s x10000 the average homeless person?

If his wealth disappears when he dies then that's because he set up some elaborate scheme to destroy his own wealth and prevent it from reaching anyone else. So not only would I still pick him to die I would feel even less guilty about it because fuck that guy.

As we all know, when your boss dies, his large adult son simply says to you "oh no, the jobs have evaporated"
