It's always confused me how Americans seem to think the rest of the world live in mud huts and are medieval peasant farmers or something. Like they just flat out don't seem to understand that other countries exist in the 21st century. I guess that's the only way you can compare the "American lifestyle" to another country favourably, if you pretend the rest of the world is stuck in the 1500s.
I realize, objectively, that putting all the most annoying internet commenters up against the wall first would be horribly inefficient, but I really don't know what else we could do.
