deep state is pushing the tiller but who knows if the rudderpost will hold?
that time he shat on dead troops right to the face of that general who lost his son in Iraq :chefs-kiss:
When he first publicly acknowledged RBG died and pretented unconvincingly that he was just then learning about it as Tiny Dancer played in the background :chefs-kiss:
the only competitor to this as best moment of his first term is the huge fast food spread at the white house
God that was indeed so fucking iconic. Really summed everything up so concisely
The Lincoln Project says to libs "DeSantis hurts Trump!" The libs are pleased.
Later - it's easy to imagine that nearly all the top level people at the Lincoln Project get cushy consultant gigs working for DeSantis - the reasonable fascist™. And now the libs are hurt and confused.
Libs will turn out for DeSantis thinking that they are going to save democracy. They'll donate to DeSantis. They'll fucking blockwalk for him.
I still wouldn't bet on him. Dude's only move is to ring the evangelical dinner bell. But its going to be funny as hell watching MSNBC go to bat for him.
The Lincoln project's whole thing was "we want a CIVIL reactionary." Libs are so dumb.
They won't be able to stop Trump from holding DeSantis underwater next election, the rubes in the cia need to pull a Nixon and get him on charges any other president would never be changed with or cope mald and seeth because guess what? even if you get rid of him the voters will still split your vote with some other candidate adjacent, this isn't the dnc where you get to decide what the voters want. :trump-moist: forever this man will haunt your party.
DeSantis becoming this media darling is exactly how Pete was pumped up during his run. :curious-marx:
First time I've actually watched a Lincoln Project video... Why do they have some weird whispering lady doing the voiceover? It's very unsettling.
Honestly I think you nailed it and as booty pointed out in their comment, if you have an asmr channel I'd like to subscribe.
Something I've been thinking about, part of the reason Trump won in 2016 is because the Republican establishment failed to coalesce against him the way the Dem establishment did for Bernie. That means that it is very possible that corporate interests push the Republican party machine to become more Democrat-like in order to freeze out popular reactionaries in the future. Thing is I think that a change like that might lead to the Republican party completely collapsing - the Dems can afford to depress their own turnout by nominating unpopular ghouls in a way that the Republicans can't, even gerrymandering won't be enough to keep them in power if a significant chunk of their base tunes out the elections.
the Republican establishment failed to coalesce against him the way the Dem establishment did for Bernie
The Republican Establishment isn't in control of the state and local parties in the way the Dem Establishment manages things. The geriatric ghouls selected Jeb Bush as their nominee in 2016 and - for a thousand reasons - he was an utter flop that created a huge vacuum into which Trump poured himself. Obama exploited a similar deficit of charisma against Clinton in 2008, but his wins were tighter and he still needed the Kennedy network to make it through precisely because of the rigid Dem party structure.
By contrast, a ton of the Trump enthusiasm comes from Right Wing Talk Radio. The shock jocks absolutely adore him. The podcaster weirdos all think he's totally Alpha. Dude is intoxicating to the wanna-be famous crowd.
I don't think Republicans really have a counter to that inside their own ranks. All their guys are boring empty-suits and weaselly dorks. The only way they can really beat Trump is by bringing him down to their level. And that means turning him into a loser. Maybe a bunch of meme-artists from the Ted Cruz Campaign can pull that off...
Thing is I think that a change like that might lead to the Republican party completely collapsing
The Republican Party can't collapse so long as its tent poles - billionaires willing to inject endless amounts of cash into the right-wing media establishment - endure. As long as the American economy continues to dump endless amounts of wealth into the hands of socially conservative patriarchs, you're going to have a GOP in some form or another.
Remember when people thought the Lincoln Project were... idk, what did the libs think they were? Because they were basically wolves in sheep clothing but not as a metaphor.
The Lincoln Project is and has always been wolves in wolves' clothing, shouting out to the sheep, "Hey! Sheep! Come get in my mouth, you dumb fucking idiots! I'm also a sheep, but I'm in disguise! Trust me!"
If you look at the history of the Lincoln Project guys, they all just came from the Heritage Foundation and PNAC and the Ted Cruz campaigns.
Honestly, if DeSantis is teaming up with this gang, his prospects got a lot worse. They're going to suck him bloodless and leave him covered in a bunch of jenky memes.
