I find the lack of mentions of TrueAnon disturbing. :brace-dark-cowboy: :liz-society:
There's :citations-needed: to bait troll respectability politics libs
This is a bit like when students try to convince each other that they are cool by the collection of albums they listened to
That's a lie @Dirt_Owl and @SorosFootSoldier are both rad af
The Deprogram has been good fun this year! That's my #1 (because I don't listen to many podcasts in general).
What's a good word for, "liking the people doing a thing and agreeing with them and the content they produce but being bored out of your mind when you actually consume that content "? Because that describes me for a lot of lefty podcasts, including some on this list.
No offense but what do you guys even actually do on that stream. Twitch is completely unentertaining to me.
I cannot comprehend people who use twitch outside of very specific events. I just don’t get it.
- Horror Vanguard
- The Verge Cast for the Crypto/SBT/Elon&Twitter coverage
- Blowback
- 5-4 pod
- Always Sunny in Philadelphia Podcast
- Suggested Donation
- This Machine Kills
- Fiasco
- Revolutions
- RevLeftRadio/Red Menace
- Antifada
how is the it's always sunny podcast? i'm not caught up on the show, but i always enjoyed it.
It's a fascinating look at the going ons behind the scene and they even shit on their own episodes. All of them said that nowadays they wouldn't do "The Gang Gets Racist". They are completely different from their characters, Rob and Glenn specifically are very chill and "unmasculine" sometimes lol. Charlie is charlie, he is constantly talking about vandalizing shit when he was young.
that's cool, i'll probably check that out. that's funny too, i would not revisit the first season of iasip. it's not got the same vibe that the rest of their run hits.
I mean, half the laugh is how many of the podcasts listed come from authors and editors who worked on prior NYT affiliated podcasts. The woman from Serial and the guy from 99% Invisible teaming up to do a podcast about Polo Sweaters worn at Princeton in the 50s is the most NYT-tier navel gazing bullshit imaginable.
OP's joke would be totally unironic if Will Menaker or Alex Ptak was in the editor's lounge.
nobody is surveilling your podcast listening to make sure you're a true leftist™️, you can stop doing this to yourself
Ghost Stories for the End of the World was my #1 podcast of the year. Legit made me question my sanity several times. 10/10
I really like We Are Not So Different. Someone here posted it once. It's about various aspects of medieval history and the hosts are lefties. But I'm way behind on episodes.
This list is also missing The Dollop.
Yesterday somebody posted about how most of everything terrible now is a consequence of failures of Reconstruction, and I was wishing there was a Revolutions podcast style retelling of the Civil War and Reconstruction as a failed revolution. Not so heavy on details of battles but what the good people were thinking the future of America might be and how they lost. I know bits but it's not a coherent story in my head.
fucking hell how do you have time for that? i only listened to chapo and citations needed regularly, and i paid for the third season of blowback after ripping through the first two.
My official list is down at the bottom - I drive to work now (and used to ride the bus) so I've always listened to podcast. I also listen to podcast while I do chores.
that's fair. i listen to music a fair bit more, especially while commuting. i'm a podcasts for grading and cooking person, which is a limited amount of hours per week.
fucking hell how do you have time for that? i only listened to chapo
Oh simple! I listened to the good podcasts instead of this. Hope this helps in the future.
This Machine Kills, Ghost Stories For The End Of The World, and Seeking Derangements have all gone into my regular rotation in 2022
