These are very silly arguments. First off we don't say "well everyone else is doing it why shouldn't I" about anything else. And then the answer is to just wait for better products to come out so we can consoom better. A vote with your wallet lib argument? Seriously?

It's like electric cars. They don't have as bad emissions but they're expensive and still require cities to be structured around every bazinga owning a vehicle. Fake meats are expensive and vat grown takes up absurd amount of resources at scale.

One thing I will agree on, I don't think a moral argument works. The meat industry is unsustainable and in a sane world we'd have already scaled back. Once the industry shrinks it won't matter what your opinion is, meat just won't be available to eat everyday for every meal.

Ah yes, I love it when my leftism is indistinguishable from libertarianism in assuming rational functioning markets and the inevitable progress of technology.

He’s only saying shit like this because he assumes vegans won’t do anything beyond wagging their fingers even harder.

I think there's something to be said about how veganism has mostly been subsumed by liberal politics and turned into a consumption thing, even going so far as to say that many vegans don't really understand it as a political position. The lack of theoretical development in the broader vegan movement severely restricts our practical work which is why individual evangelizing still seems to be the primary method of spreading veganism. The answer to this issue obviously isn't to abandon veganism though, it's to build a revolutionary vegan/animal lib movement that recognizes control over production, not consumption, is how we end animal agriculture and that mass organization, revolutionary action, and a popular front are how we reach that.

    Which is it folks

A: "If I can convince enough people to be vegan through arguments and/or bullying then we can outlaw meat"

B: "There is no point in being vegan unless 80% of the population is already vegan"

C: "Ugh, you're belittling the argument and not treating it with the seriousness it deserves. You're actually doing more harm than A or B."
