Some Anarchist comrades do seem to be put off
I am put off by banning a user like this over such a slight offense. I have never been offended by a single BMF post, only amused.
maybe they should learn not to be a sectarian asshole then
they'd literally be the most popular user on the site if they didnt go out of their way to spread sectarian garbage
BMF is a GPT3 chat bot that was trained on a data set consisting of declassified MKULTRA documents, conspiracy theory forums, /r/GenZedong, SomethingAwful, and Raddle. It was an experiment to see if an AI could learn to feel self-loathing. I'd say the results speak for themselves.
Well, maybe not most popular, but definitely in the top five.
They have their own acronym and nickname that almost everyone who’s not new here recognizes.
so does v*ush (:funny-clown-hammer:) but you wouldn't call him popular here
I am an anarchist (for lack of a more specific word), and I was born to and raised amongst PMC types.
Please tell me who they're "going out of their way to be sectarian" against.
Please tell me who they’re “going out of their way to be sectarian” against.
Anarchists.
Do you mind telling me what exactly I should take offense to? Because I've been enjoying the ongoing bit for 2 years and I haven't felt threatened in the least.
What does make me feel threatened or alienated, though, is arbitrary bans that are purportedly done on my behalf, and someone telling me what I can or can't handle.
I do not care what you do or don't take offense to. That is completely irrelevant. I, and plenty of other anarchists on the site, am a fan of the anti-sectarianism rule which results in sectarian assholes being banned for sectarianism.
"As an anarchist, I like it when people critical of me get banned."
:warf-wtf:
Unless they're bullying or otherwise constantly harassing people, I don't have a problem with it. In the case of BMF there is absolutely no targeting, it's just a piece of a rant here and there that's never directed at anyone in particular and doesn't contribute to any broader pattern.
“As an anarchist, I like it when people critical of me get banned.”
yes :gigachad-hd:
yeah this place has become increasingly openly sectarian over time (though mods are generally good at handling it), i feel like having a consistent line is pretty important
i love bmf but could do without the sectarianism - i note bmfs more recent accounts have dropped using one particular term with racist overtones after being banned for it, so i figure they should be able to drop the sectarianism too
has become increasingly openly sectarian over time
I don't mean to be rude, but this is certainly not the case. This comes and goes like most things.
At the risk of meta-commenting, I agree, most of the time even their "anti-anarchist" posts are mostly targeting lib-lefts who call themselves "anarchists", people who the anarchists in this forum make fun of too. That said, there are ones that do target anarchist groups in Europe that could be removed, but well... We'll see what it looks like.
if you've got an issue with them take it up with them not me
All accounts should get unbanned on the site during the duration of solar eclipses.
two of the great heads of posting lay slain
i don't know how to feel about it
just realised that LiberalSocialist got banned too. :NOOOOO: :NOOOOO: :NOOOOO: :NOOOOO:
ngl they were one of my favourite accounts on this site
I hope I too am banned if I ever post too much cringe, how else am I supposed to learn?
i post always with the expectation of a ban in my heart
this keeps me humble
I just assume I'm the worst poster on the site and try not to be
how bad was it, I missed all the fun while I was being a wage slave
They did a "all men are trash" post that they kept doubling down on and trying to treat men as a class equivalent to the bourgeoisie.
I found it in the modlog, how'd it take them so long to get banned lol
that took way longer than I thought it would, glad it finally happened though
I still don't understand why so many people were so put off by LiberalSocialist.
from what they said on the hex mastodon instance it seems like they felt the atmosphere of hexbear was way too dunk heavy and they felt themselves getting more toxic and dunk hungry over time. maybe they'll come back less likely to dunk, maybe they won't :shrug-outta-hecks:
If they don't I'll miss them though
The :posting: levels of doubling down on every position no matter what, the self-ratioing their own posts....
Incredibly entertaining but also just easy to create conflict.
Not enough :left-unity-4: energy from them, sadly. Too focused on winning arguments.
I can't really say I've been bothered by any account that wasn't straight up a chud who gets immediately banned. I guess I'm just not the argumentative type, so I just scroll past whatever flame wars are going on.
First they came for Ides of Merch and LiberalSocialist
And I did nothing because those are not my accounts :grillman:
Damn, I definitely had it out with LibSocialist a few times. He def struggle sessioned hard. But I was hoping that he'd grow out of it. There was a few times where it looked like he was maturing. (not arguing against the ban because I wasn't paying any attention).
If history is anything to go by they'll be back under a new and bizaare name. I think it's worth it to keep banning them until they learn to drop the sectarianism.
black mold futures can't be sectarian because they can't be coherent
