I think I'm legally obligated to say oak on account of being a dryad. I like those massive redwoods, and cherry blossoms are pretty but the fact that the cherries are inedible is just kind of fucked up.

On that note I think I'd have to go with plum trees for the fruits. I like pines just cause their needles smell good.

I really like ginkgo trees. I love how bright and yellow they get in the fall and I enjoy pressing their leaves since they're such a pretty shape. I will also add weeping willow to the list, they're basically dream trees and perfect to nap under. Oh and birch trees cause their trunks have eye motifs and that's cool as hell.

i was going to say oak. specifically shumard oak, for all it's resilience and all the services it provides to its neighbors. but i have to admit ginkgos always make me turn my head. the leaf print / profile is enchanting and it's hard to overstate the living fossil thing. trees in general are a window to the past, but the ginko is like a magic portal to another reality.

Big fan of the Larch! Golden needles in the fall and it’s a deciduous conifer 🤯

Hey, that's not a tree! Thats a method of growing trees! What if I said my favorite kind of nut was nut butter? How would you like that? :angery:

Not my favorite, but I have a grudging respect for tulip poplars. Those things grow QUICK. And flowers are pretty.

Favorite is the sugar maple because syrup is my jam.

I also thought about maples. It does strike me as kind of weird to say I love a living creature because of how I can cut it open and consume its insides to its detriment.

However you're right maple syrup is great so I do like maple trees for that :chad:

Birch. Common, pretty pattern, burns well, gets weird and bendy when exposed to harsh winds.

I was thinking of birch as well! They're very simplistically pretty I think. They don't need any flashy flowers or anything, they're just nice :quokka-smile:

im a huge fan of moreton bay fig trees, native to a*stralia

they grow massive and old with huge sweeping canopies of beautiful dense leaves, and massive protruding root networks that make them look gnarled and ancient, theyre just majestic as hell. like theyre what i would imagine a world-tree would be like. pretty much the only good thing that settler colonialists did in this country was plant a whole bunch of these that have now grown to immense sizes around sydney (the trees themselves are natives, not a br*tish import btw).

Forget climbing, you can go on a whole adventure in that beast. Top tier tree right there, good choice

While similarly required to mention the apple tree, I'm going to add the willows which provide a curtain of shade that I've always liked. It's as if they're bending over to meet you.

We have some real pretty ones called frangipanis and jacarandas that grow where I live. They only flower for a short time once a year but fragipanis get these awesome yellow and white flowers, jacarandas the whole tree turns like bright purple

Ooh, those are pretty. I ought to learn the names of the pretty flowering plants in my area, cause I've got trees that flower all kinds of fun colors that I couldn't identify if my life depended on it lol
