Comrade George Lucas once said something to the effect of: "I talked to a lot of Soviet filmmakers and they told me about all the artistic freedom they had. See, they couldn't criticize the government too directly, but besides that it was wide open. In America, what I was functionally allowed to make was strictly limited by commercial viability."

Besides, it's not like you need military approval to get the technology necessary to put US soldiers into the movies. There's PLENTY of mainstream US movies that are critical in ways that the CIA doesn't have to vet 🤨 right?

What happened this time? I feel like with the new chat I sometimes miss big news events, or at least the chapo take on them. Do you mean the Portland antifa guy?

For once there was a police-involved shooting that wasn't started by the cops. Some guy just randomly opened fire on two cops in their car, and some of the chapo.chat threads about it were invoking the spirit of Dorner, otherwise celebrating, etc. If we were still on reddit that would have 100% been an instant ban.

Since we're not, though: local media has been reporting a complete lack of corners in Los Angeles

I was confused because I'm used to reading "officer-involved-shooting" as a euphemism for murder-by-pig.

Two LAPD officers were shot and in their car, although they are both currently alive.

So sad... praying that their suffering ends soon.
