Place your bets now:
- Subtle anticapitalist show that criticizes the hellscape that is South Korea, and at the end Koran Walt kills a compound of sex pest American marines
- A show about a South Korean teacher who teams up with a North Korean meth cook and all the villains are North Korean and Gus is Chinese
Hmm... But I already have my Colombian shot for shot, beat for beat adaptation (Metastasis) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0uvYLuZJes&list=PLhnga2Wkjnjh76GX2ipUVDOe2x8OLWt4X
But sure, I'll take yet another remake :dean-smile:
lmao holy shit that's amazing i don't know why but I'm so happy that someone made this, it's like a prestige TV shitpost
Hey I'm just glad that America isn't the only country doing unnecessary remakes of foreign film and TV. Although I think South Korean "Dexter" would be much more interesting for no particular reason.
Watch Memories of Murder. Not related to dexter outside of the focus being that of a serial killer. It’s directed by Bong Joon Ho but it’s sorta copaganda because they’re underfunded and poor, but also paints them as bumbling buffoons who can’t do anything because all they do is abuse suspects and witnesses
Saudi Dwight pranks Saudi Jim by pretending to dismember him in the storage basement
Didn’t the fire drill scene from that go viral a second ago
Hindi as well. There are like, 7 remakes of The Office.
I'll wait for the anime adaptation where he says JESSE-KUN WE NEED TO COOK UWU~
Highschool girls instead of adult men.
Chemistry class CGDT instead of crime drama.
Basicaly the recipe for the most generic slice of life of the past 20 years. Also good chance of being a hit, depending on the style/director they rip go with I say I'd watch unironicaly so...
Magical girl breaking bad, where Walter White transforms from a chemistry teacher into a drug dealer through a sequence of flashing lights a twirls not an entire series of TV.
Honestly, this works. There's so many movies about divorced middle aged korean dudes reasserting their worth by getting involved in some shit that allows them to use their masculinity to save a woman or a child. Breaking Bad attempts to do a deconstruction of those types of stories. Walt doing nothing while Jane dies would hit harder in a Korean version.
Even if the villains are North Koreans it won't be a 'evil commies' thing. They will be explicitly shown as rogues going against the northern government. Usually the biggest flex is that the southerner can be goofy while the northerner has to be serious.
real shit? i thought it was pest as in ants and roaches
Watch Narcosaints, same vibe, a middle aged worker has spent his whole life on the grind, and is developing health problems. He jumps on a buddies get rich quick scheme to import fish (skate) meat to SK, before realizing that the reason it’s so profitable is all the cocaine in the fish.
So anyone know if Lee Chang-Yeol is based? He's directed one movie (Trick) and it seems to be a critique on news media consuming people (tldr wiki plot, a private news investigator is forced into acovering the lives of a terminally ill man and his wife).
