As much as I agree with the criticism of "ownership" of another animal, whether dog or cat I find it especially funny when used wrt cats.

Bruh you are your cat's slave and they are inscrutable masters.

We domesticated dogs, cats domesticated us.

I like to think my cat is my friend. We have been through a lot together, more than any cat really should expect to go through in a regular house cat life. She is family to me. Cats being secret overlords rhetoric is really strange to me. I know it’s probably just flippant funnies but she’s just a goober like the rest of the family.

yeah it's more like you are part of a pride or a cat colony (if you have multiple cats). with just one cat it's like you said, you are either the cats friend or permanent clever two legged parent (that didn't drive it away)

While the dog may be alaskan, I am not, and I don't want to freeze my ass off on walks every day

I would guess northwestern states like montana trend slightly blue because of farm dogs too.

A dog's love is unconditional and that's a beautiful thing. A cat's love is earned and that's a beautiful thing.

I have both. Am I bi?

I do usually much prefer cat people than dog people though. A lot of dog people are terrible pet parents and very annoying.

An interesting opinion for sure, I mainly have one quibble with it being the propagation of the debunked concept of the "alpha male" among canis species

The author is also incorrect about the cat's body language. Slitting its eyes is a friendly acknowledgement of the photo taker—the cat is happy and trusting, the exact opposite of the distrust they ascribe to it.

Okay but what about the number of outdoor cats per state?

BRUH what the fuck is going on on the east coast with rabid cats?!

Also california has either the worst feral cat problem, the best program to address the problem, or - as I suspect - both.

        Show

This means that the number of rabies cases in cats on the east coast is massively disproportionate.

I am just an animal person.

            And a plant guy.

A student of biology and lover of all living things (except fascists, I prefer them not living)

This is what happens when you aren't a dog person

The data does not support this. California has as many if not more cats and none of them have rabies.

This seems to be an east coast problem.

Maybe it has more to do with the prevalence of the transmission method for the rabies virus and the fact that commiefornia's most common transmitter animal of the rabies virus is nowhere near as numerically popular as the most common transmitter animal of the rabies virus is in New Woke and the surrounding Marxist states - nor mentioning the map you chose is actually a map representing the number of respondents to a poll (567 people I believe) and not number of Feral cats per state - In addition to the fact there wouldn't be a significant rabies issue in the first place if there wasn't a significant feral cat problem to act as a transmission vector for the virus.

              Dog people stay winning

BRUH what the fuck is going on on the east coast with rabid cats?!

          literally nothing

the map says 7-292 cases tested for the blue color

          the map is literally meaningless
