    "Second and third world countries"

They know the classification is based on cold war alignment and not rank ordering of countries, right?

Europeans: "We literally hate communists, socialists, and anyone who calls themselves a "leftist". In fact, we have no problems killing them and celebrate it openly."

Americans: "I WANT TO BE A HECKIN' SOCIALIST LIKE THE SWEDES AND FINNS!!!!! :so-true: "

Damn, that is an amazing thread to use as an example of something I notice when liberals discuss politics with someone they disagree with.

So many folks sliding in like, "Actually sweatie, you'll find that socialism is when the government does stuff. What you're talking about is evil, authoritarian comulism." Vividly apparent they know fuck all about communism, socialism and the connections between these two systems, but they'll be damned if they don't assert their guess over the words of someone that does.

It's like, what's the phrase? mansplaining.

Liberalism is having utter confidence in stuff you know nothing about and calling those who claim to or actually do know more, ignorant.

I think it’s partly because a lot of them believe they are “educated” and they’ll tell you about it. If they can get a degree without ever hearing a critique of capitalism they assume one doesn’t exist because they would know if anyone did.

Not ever considering their “education” may have left some stuff out

This is extremely correct. I wish so badly that even 1% of American universities were the hotbeds of revolutionary thought the right pretends they are.

Socialist Sweden currently run by free market liberals supported by a party that was openly nazi as recently as 30 years ago. Not even the succdems are in power.

And lets not even pretend that Swedish healthcare is going anywhere other than privatization. The public option will be kept running at minimum budget and for profit, while all the complex cases get shunted over, and if the state have to support public healthcare monetarily they have to give an equal amount to private healthcare providers that just shunt off the problem cases. Same thing as private enducation. Gotta keep those billionaire numbers rising.

And what is the greatest source of inspiration for Sweden's "we're totally not nazis anymore, wink-wink"-party? The state racism of Denmark that enjoys near-total support among the country's mainstream politicians.

Socialism is when you rob the global south and use a little of the ill-gotten gains to bribe the people of the global north with healthcare and the more healthcare they get the socialister it is.

Evergreen Jakarta method excerpt on precisely this point:

“Looking at it this way, the major losers of the twentieth century were those who believed too sincerely in the existence of a liberal international order, those who trusted too much in democracy, or too much in what the United States said it supported, rather than what it really supported—what the rich countries said, rather than what they did. That group was annihilated.”

someone in there saying socializing 'murican healthcare will destroy jobs

pay them to not work in insurance. it would do more good to pay them to do nothing. If they wanna get another job and add to the consolation income, that's OK too. bam, solved it.
