Wow, I totally believe that some random Ukrainians rented a small sailboat, filled it with hundreds of pounds of explosives and high tech diving gear, and then managed to plant the explosives hundreds of feet below the surface on the middle of a busy shipping lane. That's definitely what happened.

This is such a bad cover story that the reporters can't even prevent themselves from questioning it. Didn't stop the NYT from running a big headline tho.

Diving experts say such extended deep dives would have required a decompression chamber for the divers, which would not fit on a yacht.

    Lmao this is so weak

What's even the point of this bullshit, at least the previous story of "Russia did it" was technically feasible.

Seems kinda like a means of slowly getting everyone to accept the inevitable (the the US did it).

Similar to how years after the invasion of Iraq, everyone was in agreement that "well of course there were no WMDs"

Slowly slide the west into “hmm maybe Ukraine bad” mindset in order to withdraw support without losing face

I think it's a power move to demonstrate the complete futility of truth.

I still can't get over the fact that Biden openly threatened Nord Stream on live TV and some people are still willing to believe it wasn't the US.

A chartered yacht!? At this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your kitchen?

May I see your anonymous sources?

It gets better: Their sources are anonymous sources from within the US intelligence community.

I know the made-up boat was a lot bigger but I'm chuckling to myself thinking about some Ukrainian guys and a thousand+ pounds of explosives all packed into a little Sunfish.

Oh yeah sure. 6 dudes with thousands of pounds of explosives and specialized diving equipment on that little sailing yacht. The boat is significantly smaller inside than your average 53 foot semi trailer. It tops out at 7 knots. According to the article, it would have taken at least 4 separate dives, each one lasting several hours. All while remaining unseen in an extremely busy shipping corridor.

Did these "Ukrainians" happen to be employed, trained, and supplied by the US military?

Nope. Just a few lone wolves with training and equipment purchased from anonymous sympathetic non-state actors:epsteingelion:
