Still remember getting laid off when I worked at a call center

They made the mistake of not walking me out

Still have boxes of pens and paperclips

      Nice.

At the last one where they asked me to leave it was the day the office ordered a fuckload of lunches so I took like 15 near the managers' offices and a box of pens, books, and coffee and beer from the kitchen.

Honestly wish I've been more brutal.

They realised I was doing the work that was supposed to take up 7-9 hours of may day, everyday, in 2 hours and then fucking about and going home early and were like: "we feel like it would really be great if you could like spend more time here, we like to think of ourselves like a family" like MF you don't know wot my family be like.

Laptops are easy to track and for the company to lock. Probably not worth a lot of risk unless you’re sure you’ll get away with. Peripherals like monitors, mouse, keyboard are a safer choice

Hearing what layoffs entail: "wait you're freeing me from this hell AND you're paying me for it?"

Thank you, comrade! My wife and I actually have our own business (no employees, no capital, contracting shit basically so :lib-status: ) and we're doing very well between that and her other remote work. I'm about to be a stay at home dad, and while that will make some old debt take longer to pay off, i'l be able to see my baby and i'm fucking ecstatic!

Wow that’s great, you’re so lucky

One of the worst feelings is looking for work when you need it and not finding it

Oh I am incredibly lucky. Being relieved to be fired isn't a luxury most people can afford.

Enjoy the most fun two weeks of your whole job to that point, take the time to make sure you never have to buy office supplies ever again

Sadly it'll probably be a stressful 2 weeks, lol. I'm guessing they want him to transition all responsibilities to the next person, and failing to do that they'll take some portion of the severence package away.

I believe they can only realitically condition that if they have a severence above the legally mandated one. If not, I'd ask they pay double my salary for those two weeks, what are they gonna do fire you again?

I always feel a little warmth in my my otherwise icy heart when someone tells me they're about to leave their job.
