I've long suspected that the most likely "equilibrium state" for US gun laws, in terms of strictness versus selectiveness of enforcement, is pretty much identical to the state of US drug laws in the mid to late 20th century. White kids in the suburb will still be able to get as many as they want.

Yeah maybe if we cause the Republicans to pass gun control the NYT libs will stop saying we're a social contagion (they won't).

In the next breath, Carlson planted in his audience’s minds a scenario in which transgender people are armed not only with guns, but with F-35 fighter planes and tanks.

My kind of praxis is informing LGBTQ+ folk in Poland that you can legally buy and own replicas of black powder cartridge-less firearms which models of were first made up to 1885 by just hitting the oh so mature milestone of 18 years of age. Getting powder might be a bigger problem, but some guys on shooting ranges can hook you up. In Polish law though (notorious for convicting people who've used self defense) using them for self defense (even just firing outside of a shooting range) might (most definitely will) lead to prison time, and don't even think of showing up with one to ANY kind of gathering or manifestation. That stuff will get you convicted on it's own.

Even then, knowledge is power and just informing people of this I hope I was a help when push comes to shove... No matter how much I don't want a situation like that to be the case...

In poland its probably better to learn other means of self defence rather than acquire a firearm

Oh yeah, definitely. It's just that almost no one who isn't a gun nut doesn't know of this. Still, all of my warnings regarding legality should heed that while you can do this doesn't mean you necessarily should.

Then why inform them in the first place if the knowledge is useless?

I wouldn't say it's completely useless, but I do agree that it is not of immediate help. Anti-LGBTQ+ sentiments aren't dying quickly, especially not in "Poland B". If for example there were to happen a mass armament of LGBTQ+ people, that in itself and the coverage of that could drive change (not necessarily immediately positive). Is it an idealistic example? Yeah it is. But to assure you I also inform LGBTQ+ folk of other methods they can secure their safety. This gun thingy is just a part of that and I mentioned it first because of the OP.

Poland isn't the USA, guns here are an anomaly and I believe that spreading the word about them, even if it's not as important as other information that may be of immediate help, is important.

Hell, now I've got an idea of an LGBTQ+ gun and self defense club, something like that would be interesting…

Powder is not that hard to get and legal in small quantities most places since it's used for so many things.

In a pinch you can get all the precursors fairly easily as long as you don't order 2000kg of saltpetre like a dumbass (just pee on some straw and leave in the dark 6 months like a normal person), but actually making the stuff without a permit is illegal most places and while simple is still dangerous so probably don't.

Well in Poland you are required to own a European Weapons Card to buy black powder as a private individual. To own it you only need to have a replica weapon spoken of earlier, otherwise it's illegal. Also as you said manufacture of black powder is something well documented and materials are wildly available, but it is absolutely illegal to produce any explosive materials in Poland without a permit and can lead to prison time from six months to eight years.

Whenever anyone talks about guns, what they really mean is that they should have the guns. Not anyone else. This has a long history and has been proven correct many times.

"Every Communist must grasp the truth, 'Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun'"

"Our principle is that the Party commands the gun, and the gun must never be allowed to command the Party."

    -- Mao Tse-Tung
