“If true, the appalling conditions described in the whistleblower complaint – including allegations of mass hysterectomies being performed on vulnerable immigrant women – are a staggering abuse of human rights. This profoundly disturbing situation recalls some of the darkest moments of our nation’s history, from the exploitation of Henrietta Lacks, to the horror of the Tuskegee Syphilis Study, to the forced sterilizations of Black women that Fannie Lou Hamer and so many others underwent and fought.

“The DHS Inspector General must immediately investigate the allegations detailed in this complaint. Congress and the American people need to know why and under what conditions so many women, reportedly without their informed consent, were pushed to undergo this extremely invasive and life-altering procedure.

“It is also essential that we get answers regarding ICE’s egregious handling of the coronavirus pandemic, in light of reports of their refusal to test detainees including those who are symptomatic, the destruction of medical requests submitted by immigrants and the fabrication of medical records.

“Reports such as these point to the urgent need to overhaul our unaccountable detention system and its horrific misuse by the Trump Administration, to ensure that these abuses cannot ever again happen.”

YOU GAVE TRUMP BILLIONS OF DOLLARS FOR CHILD CONCENTRATION CAMPS IN EXCHANGE FOR PENCE'S PERSONAL ASSURANCE THAT YOU WOULD BE INFORMED IN A TIMELY MANNER WHEN THE CHILDREN DIE

Technically... no children have died from the operations. They just stop them from having children. 🍦🍨🍦🍨🍦🍨🍦🍨🍦🍨🍦🍨🍦🍨🍦🍨🍦🍨🍦🍨🍦🍨🍦🍨🍦🍨🍦🍨🍦🍨</Pelosi spin>

My take: It's a good statement, but where the fuck have you been and why did you fund this machine?

Also, words are nice and all... but you're the leader of a federal body that has subpoena power, you should be dragging the secretary up there and grilling his ass on TV.

Yes, except she pulls back at the end by generalizing and saying we need to "look into" the stuff that Trump is doing. She could have put some boundaries on it. Like we will stop it. Or, a timeline. Or real action instead of saying this highlights it.

It sounded good up until her teeth fell out.

Pelosi keeps delivering the appropriate words, while she continues funding all of the programs she's complaining about.

This is going to end up being waterboarding 2.0. Congress knew Bush was waterboarding POWs and did jack shit. Hell, Pelosi herself said that she wouldn't impeach Bush for his actions in Iraq.

So if you know they are going to start a war that would kill huge numbers of people on a pretense you knew was a lie, why were you not running around with your hair on fire trying to stop it? Why was she not on TV saying this is a blatant lie?

Yeah it's almost like that was her entire job being one of the Gang of Four who got to see the full intelligence; to ring the bell if it was all bullshit.

I think she made a calculation that if she kept her mouth shut and let it happen, she could vote no and let everyone else vote yes. Later, when no WMDs were found, everyone else would look like an asshole and Nancy Pelosi would always have something to bludgeon them with. I think it was House of Cards-level psychopath decision to secure your power in the House with the blood of millions. She probably didn't think it would be millions at the time, but she clearly didn't care how many it would actually be or she would have, I don't know, stopped it?

Well, I guess standard sociopathic politicans are preferable to actively sadistic politicians.

"The DHS Inspector General must immediately investigate the allegations detailed in this complaint"

yeah, surely they'll find the leak and plug it.
