No, they lose their popularity because that is the nature of the algorithm in porn, also the turn-around times on celebrity in porn is absolutely ridiculous.

There is a reason that most pornstars have attempted to go into a multi-media streaming approach or try to emulate Amorath, who is arguably the most successful unaffiliated pornstar of all time. There is only room in the industry for a couple Mia Kalifa's but until the boomers die, you can make a medium (100,000 max in a couple years) amount of money, but only for a limited time until your number is up.

Porn is an incredibly exploitative industry, but it has mostly to do with the complete lack of job security, regulation, and turn around in the industry, less to do with trafficking (although that is a part of it as well).

No, they lose their popularity because that is the nature of the algorithm in porn, also the turn-around times on celebrity in porn is absolutely ridiculous.

There are a number of stars that have built a brand that's endured into their 30s, 40s, even 50s. The algorithms tend to churn new starlets and then salt the results with the popular veterans, in the same way music stations will rotate between oldies and newer hits.

Even then, there's some pretty straight lines between porn work and any other form of social media monetization. Getting your own label and a bench of your own talent is fundamental to getting the Real Money, since so much of any media enterprise is built on grifting the newer recruits. Finding whales to finance the bulk of your operations is vital to a sustainable enterprise, because those parasocial bonds are what will keep you in business relative to the flakes who just peak in on you for free from time to time.

Really, just watch The Producers and do whatever Max Bialystock does. Yes, that includes working Hitler into your performance. Guaranteed ticket to success.

Porn is an incredibly exploitative industry, but it has mostly to do with the complete lack of job security, regulation, and turn around in the industry, less to do with trafficking

I mean, its not unusual for ex-stars and starlets to move into the back end of the industry. The exploitees become agents of the exploiters.

This is making me rethink my assumption that gulags should generally have internet access

Looks like it's gonna have to be more complicated than that

gulags for punishment: internet access between gulags so all the worst kinds of people can communicate with each other and make themselves miserable

gulags for rehabilitation: no internet access, just books and teachers

It's like how gaming cheaters get put on dedicated servers to play only with other cheaters.

It's the best kind of justice.

I guess in fairness, the really repressed guys I grew up with are typically even worse than this Reddit :libertarian-approaching: on all the same issues. They tend to skew simultaneously Trad and Incel (even when not at all celibate), and are always residually angry from the most recent loop of their lifelong masturbation shame-spiral

So, no internet access won't be a solution for the way their minds work on its own, but it would at least solve us having to encounter their malformed thoughts online

          lifelong masturbation shame-spiral

There's a reason that so many online chuds become NoFap cultists, seek out :up-yours-woke-moralists: and related cult leaders under pretense of "self improvement," and/or do weird self-harm like binging on the most violent hateful porn they can possibly find and trying not to masturbate to it to "increase their power levels" and "motivate them" as they sometimes put it. :hypersus:

It's fascinating to me that there are so many parallel versions of nofap, without any substantial difference at all between them

Idk what the concept is called, but it always seems to hinge on pleasure having a proportional, metaphysical (but frequently non-religious) cost. Misanthropy is a hell of a drug

I mean, there's a nut of a not-absolutely-shitbrained question here. I genuinely marvel at the reality of tattoos in porn, because it seems like a very counter-intuitive business decision. There's definitely some kind of social or psychological motivation to getting a tattoo that is valued above the cash incentive of staying plain.

But the immediate reactionary turn into "Um aktuly its ephebophilia" derails any kind of serious inquiry.

I also think it can be seen as a kind of branding (which may or may not overlap with the other kind of branding). A lot of people consume porn pretty passively, but if they see certain tattoos over and over they'll be more likely to recognize who they're looking at and seek out that person's content specifically.

I would guess most people don't care if someone has tattoos, so it's not much of a business decision.

I'd be curious to see the stats on that. But there's definitely a genre of porn - typically the higher end or ritzer looking productions - that favors plainer looking models. I have to assume that means no-ink provides some kind of premium for talent.

It still amazes me how tattoos took over the western world in the 90s. They went from "only sailors and disreputable people have them" to "you have to have them otherwise you're not cool." If there's one thing about coolness it's that what's cool changes, but tattoos are still going strong decades later. So much so that people have expressed mild disappointment upon finding that I don't have any tattoos.

Yeah I think I probably know more people with at least one tattoo than without, myself included.

I mostly just wish they didn’t hurt so fucking bad :soviet-bottom:

I want tattoos partly because they hurt so fucking bad :soviet-bottom:, but getting one means actually making a decision so it doesn't happen

It's time again to play Glance at the :reddit-logo: Post History!

:freeze-gamer: of course. That's the free space.

This, among many nuggets in /r/politics:

Designate protest zones. No freeways, roads, or the ability to block foot traffic.

Problem solved. Anyone who takes issue with that can feel free to leave the protest zone and whatever happens happens… at which point they’ll be pardoned because the aggressor was clearly not a protester… otherwise they’d have been in the “protest zone”.

How about a static two mile radius in a little place called The Mohave? Any group that wants to protest can reserve that spot.

    👏

In a world where we no longer have any natural known predators, human stupidity is the ONLY thing left within natural selection/evolution/survival of the fittest, so I guess I shouldn’t mind “protesters”.

“Protesters”… yeah, they can keep calling themselves that…

    🤦‍♀️

    :scared-fash:

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND the Daily Chud Double: /r/AgainstDeg----ateSubs and that's amid so fucking many porn subs that the :reddit-logo: subscribes to because they're totally not "Deg----ate..." naaah knowing chuds, the chud goes to /r/AgainstDeg----ateSubs to chant about who needs to be murdered next and gets off to the targeted objectified "Deg----ates" at the same time. :no-fash:
