    This doesn't mean anything.

Like, I get that its horrifying to think about, but at the end of the day its just Trump doing the Trump thing. Jam a bunch of buzzwords together for applause.

China is a non-immigration country. They are very clear about this. There is a green card program, but it is one of the hardest in the world to obtain. Basically you have to have a Ph.D. or a high-paying job that pays a ton of taxes into their system. There is no exception for refugees.

You can also be naturalized as a former Chinese national, or as immediate family of a Chinese national. That is hard for most to pull off though.

I know lots of people who have moved to China. Not saying they didn't have to fight for the visa.

A visa is a temporary permit. You work, you save money, you transfer the money back home after proving you've paid taxes on it, and leave. Class B foreigners (which is what English teachers are) aren't eligible. The moment they lose employment they get a call from the Entry-Exit Bureau asking them to stop by so their residence permit can be cancelled and be required to leave China within 10 days.

Well this isn't true at all. There are permanent and temporary visas.

Nope! Techincally speaking China has a visa, which is a short term stay, and a residence permit, which is a 1 or 2 year stay.

Permanent residence is heavily restricted to the highly educated or to high value talents. So much so that it's a joke, honestly. Most people who qualify for it wouldn't want it, for tax reasons.

When the Trump boats show up they're gonna have to make some changes in order to avoid a humanitarian disaster. Also, I'm sure they'll find me very charming.

Trump added: “We are headed toward communism. There’s never been a period of time like that in our country’s history. And that’s the way communism starts. And we can’t let it happen.”

I just...I just really want to know in what ways they think we're definitely headed towards communism. Things have never been worse, and the capitalists are only further consolidating their control over the workers.

I know he's just kicking red meat to the hogs but I gotta be curious. What would be the logistics of this even happening? Mobilize the national guard to kick in people's homes?

The Trump admin couldn't even do a covid lockdown. The federal government is gutted to only do lazy, bad things that people forget about in three weeks.

What could the feds even do? Revive Rex 84?

You're under arrest for posting a prohibited communist meme. No, we don't read the text on the meme, if there's enough text on it that's all we need. Get in the van.

Where are they going to deport communists TO?

Back in the day, they put communists on a ship and sent them to the USSR. (Where most of them were fiercely disillusioned within a few years and demanded to return.) But today? Cuba? Venezuela? Vietnam? Best Korea? Norway?

I can't imagine any of these countries agreeing to accept mass immigration from America. No way. They would be turned away the same as when America refused to admit Jewish refugees before WWII.

The reverse is when the USSR put liberal/monarchist intellectuals on a boat to Germany, then they did it again a few years later to Istanbul. That was awesome though.

The current USA only knows how to do brutal things in the laziest way possible, so my instant assumption is socialists would get sent to Mexico. Further red meat for the hogs.

I could actually see Cuba accepting American refugees. They tend to be pretty cool with incoming immigration.
