So what would be the funniest outcome? Trump getting convicted and winning in 2024, pardoning himself? Or Trump getting convicted and having to be in prison with his Secret Service protection.

Actually going to prison, winning from behind bars, being sworn in behind bars, and pardoning himself immediately before then immediately committing a new crime and/or the same crime. THAT would be the funniest outcome.

Or maybe pardoning himself, but then he gets charged for that due to some technicality, but it takes an entire 4 years to work its way through the system and he serves his entire 2nd term before being arrested again.

Well, we've finally reached the lowest low now. I never thought I would see the presidential pardon be used in violation of all social norms.

Yes. Biden’s presidency has been so Boring. Isn’t that nice? A Boring presidency again, so quaint and nostalgic. Ukraine? Yawn. Inflation? Zzz. Record-shattering heat? Putting Ambien out of business. Give me Boring or give me death.

I think it would be cool if he made a declaration that got rid of the "presidential pardoning" thing immediately after pardoning himself. but he would do it wrong per protocol. so there would be a question of whether it was still possible or not. then, he would pardon some other people. then he would do some other crime and pardon himself while the question of the change of rules was still up on the air.

Trump is sentenced to prison in absentia as he holes up in a Trump hotel or one of his golf courses abroad, claiming he's on important business. He has to finish the election in exile, wins, has to remain abroad while putting together a transition government while the Democrats try and stop him. Then pardons himself and returns to the US on the first day of his administration.

Georgia is looking likely to indict as early as Monday. If Georgia convicts (and based on the publicized calls, it seems open-and-shut) then neither POTUS nor the Georgia governor have unilateral ability to pardon.

He's not going to prison under any circumstances. His fanbase would be out for literal blood, and a lot of law enforcement are among his fanbase. At the very most he'll get some sort of house arrest.

    • quarrk [he/him]
      ·

I think he’ll probably be convicted. But if he gets elected they will just do house arrest at the White House or something. Then the entire term will achieve nothing with an utterly divided congress, of which a large faction will refuse to do any work until he is impeached, out of principle / grandstanding.

we get another january 6 type circus of patriots trying to free him from prison, catturd accidentally shoots trump with a flare gun, and he makes a really stupid sound when he dies. desantis wins the election but he's harassed everywhere he goes by q anon people who think he framed catturd and trump is still alive and still the real president.

I mean, he is probably the most famous person on the planet and is running for president. What is he going to do, escape with a fake passport and hide?

I just realized how funny that would be, oh shit.

I am not 100% sure. I remember reading he would likely be free for the proceedings without needing to post bail.

Probably because he's white and rich.

For a bail to be set you need to not be a flight risk. Kinda funny to not see someone who is independently wealthy and has a private as a flight risk tho

No obviously a flight risk is someone with no means who has to be at work every day or they’ll starve. You can’t use a private jet to flee silly.
