    Even more on Paul

120 volts strike the rail spike in my brain as I read this line

He flipped through the most current Sister!/My Comrade. The drag queens pictured within were all so beautiful and clever, like a more evolved species. He just wasn't one of them, he allowed himself to know with some regret.

and realise Oh Right, it is the 1990s and probably Paul does not know the distinction between "drag queen" and "transfemme", like how the SCUM Manifesto does its labelling. He is egging out, right there!!!

    Eggy shapeshifter!!! niko-wonderous

I love that Paul literally tries drag at some guy's house and literally tailors his form so that he looks like the most stunning and sensational drag queen, and can literally shift his body to suit any gender, and then looks at a zine full of drag queens (and maybe transfemmes) and goes "God I wish that were me blob-no-thoughts " His head is empty, poor Paul lmao.

I'm working on a game now, but I want my next one to be a tactics RPG that implements mass line as a game mechanic as a means of decolonization

It's not very gay tho deeper-sadness

I actually wanted the occupying power to have a few gay characters to highlight how imperialists use LGBT stuff as a justification to colonize

      Still more

lea-tired I am so not the right person to be trying to dissect Paul Takes the Form of a Mortal Girl honestly. Aside from not having the historical context properly, I'm also way too fucking autistic to be able to tell how many layers of disconnected irony the book's protagonist is speaking on at any given time. It's a book I understand less about as I read, not more. I really like that everything it has to say about gender is subtextual, (and metatextual) but I can't really see intelligently through that lens, Idk. My brain is fucking paste rn.
