How? How do you play video games professionally and chicken out of elden ring? Just grab moonveil or some other OP weapon.

IMO the OP builds are the super fun ones to play.

I spent a half a day farming up two Magma Blades and I'm just cruising through it. No thoughts, head empty, just DPSing down bosses before I even need to dodge.

Most people playing elden ring: scared

        You playing elden ring: bridget-vibe

I got bored after a few hours with the moonveil. I used dual katanas with bloodhound step for most of my run.

I'd rather not be compared to Asmongold. Cause like, I suck at that game, too.

Honestly fuck em Fromsoft gamers that think you're playing wrong unless you do it level 1 with no weapon upgrades and no armor, uphill both ways in the snow. They're challenging games but they're also not necessarily that difficult if you let yourself use the shit the game gives you

Elden Ring took the boss design that previous Souls games would have 1-2 of -- which they used more for thematic and gameplay emphasis -- and designed like at least half of the bosses like it. It's so tiring to play compared to the Souls series (and DS3 was already kinda' pushing it). Wouldn't mind it so much if ER became the capstone to Fromsoft's Souls-style action games as they experimented with more gameplay styles, but we know that won't happen.

I'm sure the times I drop off mimic tear to hold down the fort while I help my partner find her hair products or tell my pre-schooler to go back to sleep or put the laundry in the dryer would be a lot more compelling for viewers if it managed to pull off a W more often lol.

I'm 90% convinced that being too good at games is actually bad for a streamer. Like, you how people will hate watch content, and there are tiktok pages that make bait content for hate watchers? Being bad at a game in a really obvious and frustrating way for the viewers is that.

Instead of Assmongold, can we focus on the Twitch streamer?

Here's the clip where Asmongold says that he's not going to keep playing the Elden Ring expansion because it's too hard. He says, "Of course I could beat it, I just don't really want to". His copium levels are off the charts.

You know, if we all just stop talking about Asmongold and stop posting articles about him, we could stop seeing articles and media about him and our lives would be improved.

He is just gamer Vaush, treat him accordingly.

Most of us put the game down for the past year or two, but not Soldier of Godrick. He's been busting his ass training in the lab, just waiting for a rematch.

isnt there a scientific study that says people get worse at video games after 25 years old?

For years people have been touting a line about losing react time when you hit 23-24 years old, no idea if it's apocryphal or not I haven't personally seen a study or whatever.

I lost interest in competitive / PvP games well before then, they could be right and I wouldn't know. It isn't a noticeable issue if you only play map pervert games.

I have 100% gotten worse at video games after 25. I don't think it's reflexes, I doubt my reflexes have changed enough to matter for the gaming I do. I know at least part of it is lifestyle. I can't put as many hours into gaming anymore, I'm out of school and tbh I'm a bit out of the habit of pushing myself mentally, which I think has made me a slower learner. Actually I'm glad I'm typing this out cause I hadn't thought about it this and I'm sure now that I'm aware of it I can turn the trend around.

there's still like 40 year olds that can play Street Fighter and other fighting games professionally that still require insane reactions times

Well that and reaction time isn't quite as important in fighting games as people think.

Most shit is educated guesses and conditioning. Reaction time helps, sure, but isn't as important as folks say.

IIRC counterstrike pros age out pretty hard as reflexes decline.

That doesn't really make sense. Professional musicians need to have WAY better reflexes and their careers usually only end when they're old as shit.

Clicking mouse requires 82% more brain power than your average “musician.” Beethoven can write a symphony but he can’t hear footsteps coming up to knife him 🥱

I don't think reflexes decline, or speed. Fucking thirty year old Starcraft pros can and do remain top level despite their relative age, and we really don't see APM decline that much.

I think it's more that young players can bring a new way of viewing a game to the forefront that is more effective than the old way, and the true test of a pro is whether they can adapt to a changing meta or if they'll cling to the old ways until their entire playstyle is unviable at the top level.

This goes doubly true for games that are receiving regular patches, since the meta is shifting much more frequently. People who get good at the current meta will rise to the top, but if they're inflexible they'll be selected out once their playstyle is no longer top tier.

(as for non-pros, people over 25 probably are worse at playing games, but it's because they have more responsibilities that reduce their practice time.)

    dlc (messmer) spoiler

I found the Messmer fight extremely hard too but it was fun. Did not feel too unfair though I really think the windows between his combos are too narrow. It was fun.

Second phase I had no idea what was going on. Still don't. Thankfully it's a Thatcher-IRA kinda deal so I had to only get lucky once.

Tbf though I don't know if he gave up at Messmer or at some other point. The article could likely just be using any art from the game.
