After being furloughed since March, I accepted a job offer for IT admin serving the Federal Public Defender in my city. Also, it's my birthday. :party-parrot:

Salt Lake City released body cam footage of cops shooting a 13 year old autistic boy today. Amazingly, he survived, but there's been little outrage over it. If cops can shoot a white child with no repercussions then nothing is going to change here, fuck cops.

A little while back cops shot Charles Kinsey, who was flat on the ground with his arms raised and trying to tell the cops his autistic patient wasn't dangerous, just frightened. Cops fired anyways and hit Kinsey in the right leg. In testimony they claimed they had been aiming for Kinsey's unarmed autistic patient.

I liked it better when eugenicists wore lab coats and academic gowns instead of police uniforms.

everwinding through the unbound bones, a pallid squirming groan that grows and grows, the soft caress consigns itself to the whispered bygones, now it will be whole. it will become.

The Libertarian Extropians and the Neolib H+ (formerly the Democratic Transhumanists) guys were the main groups in the early 2000s, after the decay of the right and left hippies surrounding the L5 Society and FM-2030. There was a short lived fash movement (The Prometheans) but it got kicked out fast.

The former either devolved to full randroids, went chud, or went full death eater and founded the core of NRx (Michael Anissimov has the best character arc of all time.) The latter are centrist "better angels of our nature" types who love the EU neolibs and are still around but basically stuck in useless wonk and academia circles.

And of course the (kinda) less crazy Yudkowskian Singularitarians went into the "Rationalist" and "Effective Altruism" communities and still have their West coast stronghold.

There have always been a plurality of Leftist/Demsoc/Mutualist Transhumanists, especially in the biohacking groups and the old hacker communities. But we've always been shunted into one group or another based on tech affinity and not political ideology, and especially in Libcom circles Transhumanism is looked at askance, partially because it's associated with NRx and Ancaps, partially because of the deep strain of primitivist influence.

It's a shame, because it's something that should be a part of the FALGSC mileau.

And the Pope is a straight down the centre Catholic. There's stuff in LibTheo writings that would make Mao freeze.

"Charity is today a 'political charity.'. . . it means the transformation of a society structured to benefit a few who appropriate to themselves the value of the work of others. This transformation ought to be directed toward a radical change in the foundation of society, that is, the private ownership of the means of production."

          Basically standard Marx

“In liberation theology, Marxism is never treated as a subject on its own but always from and in relation to the poor. Placing themselves firmly on the side of the poor, liberation theologians ask Marx: 'What can you tell us about the situation of poverty and ways of overcoming it?' Here Marxists are submitted to the judgment of the poor and their cause, and not the other way around.”

Going for the Mass line here

"“If there is no friendship with them and no sharing of the life of the poor, then there is no authentic commitment to liberation, because love exists only among equals.”

Criticising intellectuals who ignore material conditions

“The Exodus from Egypt, the home of sacred monarchy, reinforces this idea [desacralization of creation]: it is the 'desacralization' of social praxis. . . . In Egypt, work is alienated and, far from building a just society, contributes rather to increasing injustice and to widening the gap between exploiters and exploited.”

Drown the ruling class in the red sea plz

"So you say you love the poor? Name them."

          Log off, nerd

“We are workers, not master builders, ministers, not messiahs. We are prophets of a future not our own.” -- Saint Oscar Romero

"It is important to keep in mind that beyond - or rather, through - the struggle against misery, injustice, and exploitation, the goal is the creation of a new man. This aspiration to create a new man is the deepest motivation in the struggle which many have undertaken in Latin America."

          New Soviet Man intensifies.

Feel like an asshole because tonight I was texted by friend who noticed that, our other mutual friend who had shared some dumbass post he made on reddit last week in our groupchat, had submitted some nude to /r/ladybonersgw. It didn't sit right with me, that instead of pointing it out to him jokingly in the group, she'd circumvented him and privately told me & another friend in a different group chat - not to mention the fact that I'm sure the idiot didn't even realize he had a non-deleted nude post from when he first created his account still visible (I mean - the reddit profile is essentially his full name & birth year, for christssake) so I essentially sent him a text like "uh, hey loser, you have a nude posted on that reddit account - delete it" but by now I'm sure the damage has already been done.

Either way, I know he's gonna think I'm A.) weird as hell for apparently digging through his reddit profile three days after he sent a link in the groupchat and B.) weird as hell for pointing it out.

Wish some of my friends, while they're all genuinely decent people, weren't such assholes about things like that. Like I never even considered looking at his profile, but of course the nosiest person in our friend group has to dig through the shit and then - when she finds something innocuous like a nude - text the two she's closest to privately and go 'hee hee did you see this??' which prompted me to even text our friend, since man, I wouldn't want to find out months later via some off-hand comment that 30% of the group I've been texting for years has seen my dick through my reddit post history.

Fucking liberals. Worst part of it all is the fact that it isn't even a good nude, so it's not like I can jerk off to it and feel guilty later!!!! :screm-a:

no you don't, the group-chat was originally a lot more active and we'd do things like all hit the bar whenever everyone was back in town - but now, as it nears like 4-5 years of existence, 90% of the daily posts are the freshest memes regurgitated from our individual feeds (me and one other dude are the only ones out of 10 people who actually send shit in it day to day lol so really its just us sharing memes) and the other 10% is occasional collective bitching about politics/local news.

Idk I’d figure if anything he’d be cool with it. Just making assumptions about the sorts of dudes who post nudes online here.

he absolutely would not be cool with it haha. It was a 2yo post and clearly one he made while he was feeling a bit insecure, given one of his comments before was in a since-deleted rateme thread that he presumably created. I'm just going to suck it up and be the bad guy to prevent my less nice friends from telling other people to check out his reddit profile for laughs
