I don’t even have to get up early, I work nights my alarm is set for like 11am lol. I just want to have a little time before work to hang out at home but my body just refuses.

I actually find that when I sleep too much, I wake up more exhausted and have to snooze my alarm.

I had to do some trial and error to find the amount of sleep that worked for me.

    Also, depression didn’t help lol

That's because when you sleep too long and then wake up in the middle of REM sleep your body wants to do another full sleep cycle. I know cuz I do the same thing and it sucks.

Oh yeah, I meant to mention that as well. There are some decent apps with alarms that detect when you’re in REM and wake you up at the right time.

Do you have any recommendations? I haven't tried an app that does that for a loooong time and there are billions of apps on the store.

I work like 3-4 to midnight-1, depending on the day. So usually by the time I get home and go to sleep it’s like 2/3. I try to give myself eight hours but my body demands more lol.

I think sleep cycles are more like 1.5 hours, so 8 hours is right in the middle of one. it's easier to get up after 7.5 or keep sleeping for a full 9. there are alarm apps for your phone that will use how much you're tossing and turning to decide when to ring the alarm. it doesn't work for me because of sleep meds making me very tired when I first wake up regardless and insomnia confusing those apps on when I actually fell asleep, but it works pretty well if you're more typical.

    Are we the same person?

But seriously, I find it helps to reduce caffeine intake in the morning and to stay away from downers like alcohol at night. Not that I'm following my own advice right now because being sober is boring

I set two alarms, one half hour earlier than the other. One breaks me out of my deep sleep, and then the other finally rouses me out of bed. I definitely need that one-two punch most mornings though.
