I thought the big thing with these ninth gen consoles was that they were powerful enough upon release that's there's no need for a mid gen refresh this time.

sigh literally just got my PS5 like 8 months ago.

Why do gamerstm get excited about being exploited like this instead of getting mad about being ripped off?

Lol some slightly better frame rates and visuals at best.

I’ve genuinely seen 0 improvement in video games from the PS3 to the PS5. Just a waste of 2 generations of systems because you dumb ass gamers eat this shit up.

All they did was made you pay for online services to play digital downloads and the gamers licked the bathroom floor with glee.

They aren’t even making sequels, it’s just the game I played on PS3 with better graphics.

      doubt

This is not me standing up for the peepeepoopoo 5, just saying that's a wide enough time span where there's been a pretty noticeable amount of turnover in design tends, etc. Plenty of games from the seventh gen absolutely feel dated

Bethesda: 2002>2012: Morrowind to Skyrim, huge changes in gaming

Ubisoft: 2003>2013: Prince of Persia to AC: Black Flag, huge changes

Rockstar: 2004>2014: GTA: SA to GTA5 , huge changes

Naughty Dog: 2004>2014: Jak 3 to Last of Us, huge changes

The biggest game companies are just re releasing their 7th gen games over and over again

    Who is this even for?

Their bank accounts. There's hoards of "new tech" cucks and Sony fanboys to bankroll it even if it's unnecessary. I don't normally use the word cuck as a pejorative but it's very apt here. Daddy Sony telling them it's time to spend their money, etc. etc.

You're fine, my original PS4 lasted me through the previous whole gen, our original PS5s will last us through this one.

Sony fanboys are fucked. At least the PC masterrace freaks have a fairly open platform that allows indie devs and fan mods and stuff to thrive oretty well at different price points.

At least Nintendo has a moderate level of quality in software and changes in hardware design all the time.

Sony fanboys exist and their trawl every comment section to ask people why they'd want to not have a game be always online and make petitions to try to get gyro-aiming removed from a game. Just absolute dregs of gamer-freaks.

Honestly, the whole camp thing is juvenile in general. I'm locked into Sony's ecosystem at this point because it's my comfort zone and I haven't had the need to be elsewhere. I adopted PC gaming very late and so never took to it (I need a controller like a little bitch). That being said, I'd rather break every one of my own toes than behave like a fanboy for any megacorp.

Wait, why would sony fanboys want to make petitions to remove gyro aim? Doesn't the playstation controller have a gyro?

I refuse to buy any new Playstations that are not black and horizontal and significantly cheaper. A white tower, not only doesn't physically fit with my setup, it will ruin the aesthetics.

Is that superficial? Yes. But I don't see a point in a new Playstation anyway.

PS5 is horizontal and vertical, like PS2, 3, and some 4s. They also make black plates for it, both official and aftermarket.

Making the current generation of consoles not fit in people's entertainment centers was an extremely rare smart move by both sony and m$ actually. Trying to stuff that much exhaust heat into tiny enclosed shelves is dumb and people would absolutely have done it if it were physically possible.

And Nintendo hardware is underpowered enough that you can emulate their current gen on basically anything

I do like the form factor of both my switch and my (new) 2ds (xl), both hacked and full of piracy. None of the emulation solutions for ds/3ds are really quite right with the possible exception of the ayaneo flip ds, but that's like a thousand fucking dollars and still has too small a bottom screen.

The switch's split controller really grew on me when I broke my arm and couldn't really use a normal controller or mouse and keyboard right for a while.

I make 15.75 an hour. Honestly I need to just build a low-mid range PC and get out of consoles at this point.

They're going to be 600 bucks next time around and that point you might as well go PC.

My ps5 is the cd drive one. So new it's like 500. I'm sure there's somebody out there in my area who would pony up 375-400 for it. Which is cash I could put towards a PC

Remember when win 10 was gonna be the last OS?

can you imagine how bloated that would be eventually, that was one of the scariest things microsoft has ever said

they absolutelly are, but i feel like the continuos bloat at the rate they do it nowadays on a ongoing os for like 2 decade would just become too much, like imagine if instead of vista they just kept adding the stuff they need to add to xp again and again like they do fuck up on those jumps (win11) and it is good to be able to just say okay no i am just gonna wait for whenever you guys figure how to do a good one again instead of watching your pc slowly morph into it with no way to stop it

i wish i could go to linux but i am in architecture and there is a lot of unsupported apps i need for work and in a office setting it is easier if everyone is using the same programs, they have reduced the attempts to force me into win 11 but it still happens sometimes when i restart and it drives me nuts i hate this company so much

That would have been better.constantly changing os and breaking compatibility sucks. Also XP is better than latter windows. I would still use it if the hardware was compatible.

like i picked xp because the jump to vista was the one that i recalled broke the most stuff but it is a bad example because i would still use XP too, the vista thing as i see it is that they had to add stuff because of tech, and windows 7 was better when it came out because they had already baked that shit, vista ran really bad for most people because it was way more of a demanding os than xp so i feel like the slow trickle of updates until it got to the vista point would just make people more mad because it would eventually get there and it would be way harder to pinpoint the exact version you need for your computer, like if they are making big changes i rather them do it this way so i can opt out of doing the jump, but maybe you are right like fuck microsoft i hate them so much simply can't do 2 decent versions of windows in row if their life depended on it

Yhea XP to vista broke a lot of stuff. I even switched to Linux for a while but had to go back because of what you said of other people using windows programs.

But you are right it would suck if the gradual updates also broke stuff. I'm against big changes in my os in general.

                Yhea windows sucks, fucking company.

I'm trying to work out a proper conspiracy theory to explain this course change. Last I saw, PS5 sales were so lackluster they didn't even wanna bother with a "Pro" model. Something something NVIDIA? Is Trump a Playstation guy? Will this improve Japanese birthrates somehow?

Which are an anti-consumer practice. And there aren't really many exclusives nowadays, with notable ones being even rarer.

Are all the exclusives only capable of running on high-end hardware? Note, this includes exclusives from decades ago, as well.

Yeah, nah, I'm not about to support excluding people from accessing art on the ground that they can't afford expensive otherwise-pointless gadgets.
