I read the twitter thread and there were some other people arrested with her. I thought that the name Shameka Parrish-Wright sounded familiar. Sure enough, she was on an episode of the Trillbilly Worker's Party talking about bail reform, etc. I thought she was really impressive at the time, which I guess is why I remembered her name. Have a listen.
Total coincidence that exactly these outspoken local people are being arrested and charged. Totally not a fascist police state.
Yup. They're going to do their best to intimidate and shut people up.
This is just a warning to every progressive politician, either you join our suit and tie meetings with the powerful elite and get rewarded with some management position after you're no longer of use, or you engage yourself locally and get involved with the working class in which case we will compromise you with any means necessary.
I'll add there are a couple of donation links in the show description, if you want to help out her cause.
The fact that a dumbass subreddit and memes are considered a threat to the Feds is fucking telling. :che-laugh:
Honest to god, how do people see shit like this and think "yep, normal countries totally crack down on their political opposition for the heinous crimes of exercising the first right explicitly outlined in the Bill of Rights; nothing to see here. Vote!"
What kind of shit ass state allows for the arrest of sitting legislators?
I'm pretty sure not allowing the arrest of legislators might have some undesirable consequences.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parliamentary_immunity
This is what I'm referring to. If legislators can be arrested you just send the police to arrest the opposition whenever a vote comes up.
Fair enough. Limited immunity is a good compromise.
To be clear: charging a sitting legislator with felony rioting (which is itself a fucking wild charge) is a gross abuse of power to attack opposition.
Arrest mitch for indecent exposure of the balls hanging from his neck
The more of us get arrested the cooler we become, just saying. That's how it works
Coincidentally the same class of felony Brett Hankison was charged with..
Who cares. Breonnas Law is a fucking joke anyway. Wake me when the people who killed her are in prison.
The point is the state taking relatively high-profile political prisoners
It’s all just distractions. I don’t give two shits about what happens to this lady or what she did. If she was worth the attention she’s getting, she wouldn’t have drafted such a useless law and used up the social capital from breonnas death on something as inconsequential as a simple ban on no knock raids.
a ban on no knock raids would have significant material effect on peoples not getting murdered in their fucking sleep by the police state.
is it as good as a ban on police? no. but a ban on no knock raids is literally the whole reason leftists participate in electoralism at all; the implementation of good and effective measures to help save peoples lives by putting a check on the systems power, while simultaneously working to dismantle that system entire.
a black woman just got hauled in by the police state for daring to propose that state not be allowed to lynch her on a whim, and youre over there grumbling that she wasnt doing a hard enough praxis.
Have you ever met a cop before? You think it’d be hard to lie about that?
the point isnt to stop cops lyin.
they falsified the warrant used to murder breonna taylor. the legislation isnt about making falsified warrants illegal
but imagine it were. imagine a black female legislator drafted a bill to make falsified warrants even more extra especially illegal than it already is and then the police nabbed her for it.
can you see how your response of "yeah but her legislation was stupid so idgaf about what happens to her" would be absurd?
you’re missing the point of what I’m saying in a pretty big way here, so it’s hard for me to say whether you’re arguing in good faith or not. I’ll restate what I said:
Banning no knock raids is stupid and useless because saying you knocked on a door in the middle of the night when everyone is asleep is an unfalsifable claim.
I’m not a legislator so I can’t speak to what kind of law should have received the title “breonnas law” but naming it after that is a mockery of her death
youre missing the point of what im saying in a pretty big way here, so it’s hard for me to say whether you’re arguing in good faith or not. I’ll restate what I said:
the legislation in question is fucking irrelevant you numpty motherfuck. the police state just seized a legislator for being a black woman that tried to lodge even a tepid complaint about the wanton murder of people by said police state.
unsurprising? sure.
but your response to that is, and i quote "I don’t give two shits about what happens to this lady"
fuck off lib.
p.s. thinking its a mockery to name legislation after a person who died to make that legislation seem possible only for the people that murdered said person to arrest the legislator that proposed it? lol what?
Is your concern that the people who the state is leveling its wrath upon aren't sufficiently radical? Would you rather them instead proceed in order from most radical to least radical? Would you rather they start with you, since you're apparently to the left of Mao?
This whole line of reasoning is bullshit. The state is flailing and lashing out at anyone they interpret to be a threat. This is no time to be saying an advocate for the cause is not "worth paying attention to." Even if you consider the measures too small, they were in the right direction and the state has made a political prisoner out of her.
It is a golden opportunity to demonstrate exactly why her bill is just a drop in the bucket as far as the changes we need, but you'll never get her supporters or the community she just got arrested fighting for on your side by telling them she "doesn't matter."
Don’t care. Too blackpilled to affect change. I’d like to see her killers be brought to justice, but caring about why a gloryhound got arrested aint it
If you care about bringing her killers to justice, you should care about building a movement.
You’ve misunderstood me. I would like to see it happen. I do not care, however, because I know it won’t.
if you "want to see justice" but dont want to take any action to make that justice a possibility, and furthermore denegrate anyone that does take action, you dont want to see justice.
tldr you dont know shit
You’ve confused my position. I care about the larger struggle. What I don’t care about is the Government designated martyr behind breonnas law.
Dude, this poster is a literal chud
check his post history, literally all of it is anti-China shit.
Now he just coincidentally is bitching about Breonna's Law
White supremacists: well known for wanting lynchers to be brought to justice
