Lol, getting mad about the important things as always.

Apparently they've been saying the blue guy had his balls out or some shit? I didn't see anything like that. Bro was wearing blue modesty shorts as far as I could tell.

It honestly doesn't matter much either way. Rainbow capitalism isn't actually doing anything to protect us. If anything anti rainbow capitalism is at least being more honest in its intention

real. sometimes i think rainbow capitalism makes ppl more reactionary. like yeah, it makes LGBT ppl less likely to be anti-capitalist but it also promotes the association between LGBT ppl and capital, so the right can appeal to working class ppl with the “gay elites” rhetoric. its another way to divide and conquer the working class.

it sounds rlly bad to say “rainbow capitalism is making ppl homophobic and transphobic”, but rainbow capitalism is an essential tool for the ruling class in keeping the workers fighting amongst themselves

even before rainbow capitalism, “anti-rainbow capitalism” was used to create a scapegoat. now the right libs have LGBT as a scapegoat and the center libs have bigots as a scapegoat (a good enemy to have, but we should be trying to educate workers who lack class consciousness to rid them of their reactionary tendencies instead of seeing them as enemies). ultimately, it should be the privileged (straight, cis, white, male) comrades who educate reactionary workers, but there are so many “communist” pretenders (patsocs, ultras) who make that difficult. the ruling class has turned the difficulty up to “legendary“

yeah, that teamsters leader talked at the trump rally. it’s getting way too close to the nazi arc. trump even has gay supporters that he’ll probably night of the long knives. i hate that libs have taken all the sting from the trump/hitler comparison bc 8 years ago he was nearly identical to the average republican. it’s the appeal to the national working class that really sets up the american reich. that and the fall of empire. look out for a few years when the US loses control of the middle east and possibly Africa

I think the American Fascist arc will probably exclude wealthy white gays from the persecution. American fascism will always make exceptions for the wealthy, and they'll use those exceptions as evidence that they aren't actually prejudiced. As if letting a few white wealthy guys live somehow makes up for all the other evil they'll be doing

The problem is the capitalism, not the rainbow. If it wasn't the rainbow, the capitalists would just find some other thing to use as a wedge issue.

I wouldn't even call it rainbow capitalism when a transphobic shit org like the IOC is involved and the number of openly gay dudes among the athletes is so laughably low because homophobia is still rampant in pro sports.

The opening ceremony was mediocre though obviously not for the reasons the chuds gnash their teeth. I've binged all the ceremonies back during the pandemic. London 2012 was more of a spectacle even with its typical amnesia of the role of colonialism during its industrial revolution performance, Rio 2016 had much more soul and character, Beijing 2008 is still the unbeatable standard; all of them had a more organized structure than Paris' "tourism ad skit" of Haussmann's old buildings along the Seine. The Parade of Nations is typically meant to give full attention to the athletes and so the constant interruptions to splice in perfomances were obnoxious. I will say that the hot air balloon flame cauldron, reminiscent of those balloons in the old Paris World Fair posters, is a rather unique idea that was also executed fairly well, unlike the boat parade.

The LGBT representation was just one part of Macron's overall rebranding campaign of France's image as an "progressive nation boldly confronting its past" as a theme that permeated the entire ceremony. Seeing that Louise Michel statue description on how she was "exiled to New Caledonia and fought against French colonialism" was quite a satirical display of how superficial Macron's "Brand France" is given the current French colonial occupation and the military troops stationed to squash the still ongoing New Caledonian indigenous protests taking place since May.

I enjoyed the parade of the athletes being broken up. They paused the parade to do their intermissions so countries didn't get missed and I find the parade to be the most boring part that most drags on and on. There's like 150 countries so it was refreshing to have it broken up.

Being queer is apolitical and universal, anyone who doesn't feel that way should fuck off forever. If you don't support my rights you should legitimately be put in a gulag.

edit: oh also, if you're a racist, and you don't think some races deserve all the human rights you do, you should fuck off forever and be put in a gulag.

Being queer should be apolitical and universal. Im describing the existing reality where the struggle for lgbt rights and acceptance isnt . And im stating my opinion on whether performances in such an events a net positive in a context of the current poltical world climate and domestic movements.

An absolute shitton of people in non western countries dont support lgbt rights and as i said this social conservativism its often 19th and 20th century colonial import. 100s of millions if not billions shouldnt be thrown in gulags for their social conservativism. Their countries should be given a chance of geniune non neoliberal economic devlopment and the social changes that comes with and the betterment of lgbt rights and acceptance movements should come from the, admittedly gradual and grueling, natural struggle of domestic organic movements and groups.

At least thats my belief. To this end the more LGBT acceptance is conflated with western and neoliberal cultural hegemony and the more westerm capital, ngos and government pretent to be the moral crusaders of such causes on the world stage the worse in my opinion. I think i gave enough detail on how thay plays out in regard to the topic in my original comment

They should fuck off. Same with people of other bigotries.

100s of millions if not billions shouldnt be thrown in gulags for their social conservativism

"social conservatives" absolutely deserve to be put in a gulag. Fucking slimy and disgusting fuckers.

Their countries should be given a chance of geniune non neoliberal economic devlopment

          Absolutely agree with you there.

Being economically disadvantaged is not an excuse to be a bigot and take other people's rights away. It's not an excuse to be racist, or homophobic, or any other shit. Fucking examine your bigotries people. A gulag would be a nice place to give people who still hold on to those bigotries a chance :)

Im not in the lgbt community and of you are i understand your anger and wont say you are wrong. I just think that since that social conservativism in large part has it roots both in colonialism and in the subsequent economic underdeveloped under the global imperialist western regime i cant be too vindictive towrards them as individuals. I laid out how i think things can get better and thats where my comment comes from

No its fine, I just get pissed at social conservatives and what they have done to so many groups. It also pisses me off that now the focus is lgbt people. I don't see people saying we should keep women or racial groups out of things, or we shouldn't celebrate them, because what if some bigots from somewhere get pissed off. I don't know what the actual best political strategy for winning rights is. I just fucking hate bigots, and I hate that pride is the only group people do this with.

I'm not angry at you, just the situation. Sorry if I came off that way.

The majority of the world is probably what you would call social conservatives. "Maybe if we arrest enough people the problem will fix itself" is a liberal and explicitly anti-materialist viewpoint. Look at the conditions that cause bigotry, not the products of those conditions.

Of course actually arresting them is not an actual plan. They will arrest me or people like me for being different instead. And I hate them for it. And I hate them for all the other bigotries they have.

I didnt say that it shouldnt have been in the opening ceremony. Im just considering the sad reality of that with the way world politics and contradictions and media works it may very well be a net negative for the progress of lgbt rights worldwide, not in a conspirational short of way .Tho its not that serious on its own.

Wether you think its good that it happened depens on how you judge such think and how much weight you give on weighting such performances in such an event as a natural and organic manifestation of lgbt acceptance and progress in the west that reflects their values against more more opportunistic and performative rainbow capitalist stuff
