i just think its extremely funny...especially because the towing company they called has a suspended business license (waow-based) and the police basically went shrug-outta-hecks 'sorry we can't make them give you your car back for free' when people called them lmao

fast food/retail workers across the country, why haven't you told your most hated regulars that they can park their car in your lot & get them towed???

On Wednesday night, dozens of drivers became stranded after their cars were towed out of a private business parking lot while fans went to the Trump rally in Charlotte.

We’ve been digging into Gotcha Towing, the company at the center of the story, and found out the North Carolina Department of Revenue (NCDOR) suspended their business license, but the company continues to operate.

Business licenses are oppressive socialist nonsense meant to stiffle the efficiency of the capitalist free market last-sight

I don't believe there's a direct route to the Bojangles coliseum from the one train line running in Charlotte. MAGAts would have to take the gasp bus 👀

While the drivers were inside the rally, tow trucks showed up and began hooking up vehicles.

“The managers inside promised that they could park here,” Zander DeSoto said. “Some of the people here even gave money to the people inside.”

This is so fucking funny hahaha

This is all just standard operating procedure for the overwhelming majority of towing companies. They're entirely unaccountable, extralegal entities that have no oversight and the ability to disappear your shit for any or no reason. There is no recourse, and the greatest penalty that can be enacted upon them is suspending their business license, which has zero effect on their ability to just keep towing shit exactly like this.

They're effectively allowed to act like modern-day high seas pirates and ransom your car or bike for an arbitrary amount of money. They're responsible for self-enforcing the locally specified towing rate limits, and their lying is just to be expected. The only thing anyone can actually do about any of this is to file a lawsuit in small claims court to get their car back, but the court will almost certainly side in favour of the company.

What I'm saying is, someone could make significant money by creating a towing company or even just getting a job at one and using that power specifically to harass their local chuds.

      Gotcha Towing

      a-little-trolling

Many we talked to claim the employees gave them the green light to leave their cars there while they attended the rally. “They said we could park,” said another. “The managers inside promised them they could park here,” Zandar DeSoto said.

      trump-anguish

We talked to the on-duty manager this morning, and they said: “I told several people they cannot park here. We have a towing-enforced sign. That’s my statement.”

      dean-malice

As frustration mounted police were called, but the only thing officials could do was to drive people to the towing company to pay the fines and pull out their cars. “The tow company is saying that it’s about 380 dollars cash,” one rallygoer explained. But most reluctantly did what they had to do to get home.

      rip-bozo

After digging into Gotcha Towing, we came across documents from the NCDOR stating that the company’s business license was been suspended for failing to pay its taxes. The notification reads: “Any act performed or attempted to be performed while the entity is suspended is invalid and has no effect until the entity is reinstated by the Department of Revenue.” We also found a statute that suggests the signage was improper. After trying to call Gotcha Towing about what happened, an employee there told WBTV: “We got called in to remove those vehicles, that weren’t permitted to park there, that wasn’t free public parking.”

That person then abruptly hung up before answering questions about the suspended business license.

      waow-based waow-based waow-based

We did check in with police and they said it’s more of a civil matter and pretty much out of their control.

“They don’t care. They will tow your car,” said Kwabena Ekuban. “They will tow it with no remorse.”

Listen, and understand! That tow truck is out there! It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop... ever, until you are towed!

Wow, I can't believe these Trump hogs have such little respect for private property. Just think about all the law-abiding patriots who were unable to purchase their munchkins and coffee since they had nowhere to park. They may have cost the Dunkin Donuts corporation a few hundred dollars profit that night. They're lucky the police didn't beat them within an inch of their lives and arrest them on the spot for their brazen disregard of capital interests.
