Idc lol not like Bernie's doing anything except the imperialists' bidding
Mr. Gravel, I sent you $4.20. Where are my rolling papers?
Thats a very strange group. It seems they're trying to radicalise people by offering Bernie and Gravel as the friendly succdems, while working with Wolff, Manning and Zizek, who are considerably further left. I'm all for it though, I think it's a good idea - I'm just surprised Bernie agreed to this, after bending over backwards for the democrats since the primaries ended.

Bernie campaigning for Biden will inoculate future left candidates against accusations of acting as spoilers, the way Bernie campaigning for Hillary in 2016 strangled a thousand "he cost us the election" articles in the crib in 2020. That's the game you play when you lose; they'll just fuck you over harder if you try to take your ball and go home.
He obviously doesn't buy what Biden is selling (he ran against the guy), and he probably sees this as something that could help another big-tent leftist candidate in the future.
If you're on the left and you are part of the Democratic party, you will have to make compromises. That's as true for Bernie as it is for AOC as it is for Lee Carter. I get why folks here want these politicians to go at the DNC with both barrels but they do that and they won't be in power. Question is whether you think compromises are worth having leftist politicians in positions of power. Frankly IMO Bernie endorsing Biden kinda sucks but that's exactly the kind of compromise that has to be made and isn't really that big a deal.
They still tried to make it stick, but it never really caught on -- if it had, Bernie wouldn't have been the frontrunner on the eve of Super Tuesday. "I did 40 events for Hillary" is a pretty effective counter.
Yeah they really fucking try to make this stick, even to this day, but no one takes it one bit seriously besides the r/neoliberal and r/enough_sanders_spam cranks. I don't think prostrating himself to the party was a good strategy overall, but as far as this goes, it definitely killed the argument.
Yeah, been a wild and good surprise.
Shame I can only hear him as Archer, which breaks any attempt to enjoy Bob's Burgers for me.
I swear there's some subtle difference in his voice between the two.
But Bob's Burgers is really good. If you haven't, try just powering through hearing him as Archer for a season until you don't notice it anymore.
I like the idea of short videos you can send to your parents
Definitely, compared to the typical leftist/lib circlejerk breadtube material.
I do hope their future videos have the presenters making eye contact with the camera though, unlike the narrator in the COVID video. I could just see some boomer concluding he has a weak handshake and therefore should not be listened to.
what do you mean you have trouble staring into the soulless gaze of a mechanical lens that sits in silent judgement, a faceless void that broadcasts your thoughts across the aether to a bloodthirsty mass of ignorance?
you either look me in the metaphorical eye when you tell me im a boomer young [incorrect gendered noun] or i ignore what youre saying! thems the rules jack

PragerFORCE SWARM 🤣
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvI68YO7dVY
YouTube link to engage in the open field of battle that is the YouTube comment section. When the comrade beside you falls off their hexbear, get on that bear and continue the SWARM! (rofl) :hexbear-shining:
I am trolling, counterposting, and also voting good comments to bury their shenanigans. I think voting good comments is probably the most constructive use of time because if their comments get buried its kind of a moot effort on their part.
It immediately served me some ben shapiro shit after the Gravel video. The algorithm needs to get Nuremberg'd.
My first instinct was to expect shit, but this looks very decent. Having propaganda that isn't 1 hour podcasts or 4 hour lectures is a worthy goal. There's a lot that can go wrong though. If they don't treat youtube as just a dumping ground for videos and actually start interacting with the 'community', this is doomed.
Edit: turning this into a culture war with prageru would also defeat the whole point
The biggest reason PragerU is able to get away with its shit is because it remains largely uncontested. Turning it into a "culture war" immediately brings Gravel Institute notoriety and will force PragerU to actually defend their shit instead of just reciting talking points. It is already forcing these twitter drones to say hilarious things in "defense" of PragerU like "two wrongs don't make a right." Also, I don't think that will detract from the value of having short clips to share with people that aren't John Oliver liberalism.
I really don't see why PragerU would even pay a lick of attention, or why people who might watch a Prager video would ever watch a Gravel video. It's not effective counter-propagandha if we're the only ones who watch it.
I really don’t see why PragerU would even pay a lick of attention
In that regard, yes. It relies on being shared by the unfortunate souls who engage with youtube and facebook seriously. You can make a reasonable argument that those platforms are a lost cause, but I still don't see how taking on PU makes it any less effective.
pragerU just focuses on pure propaganda, which is its usefulness. If gravel institute want to make similar short videos to send to your family etc. like they said, why make it about another channel? Then you would need to understand what the beef is all about, which defeats the purpose of a short propaganda video that can be understood by anyone.
Also, then it becomes just about owning the cons and not about a bigger goal of spreading your ideas. It'll also make people think politics is when you debate your opponent
edit: it looks like that is the way they're going. Maybe it is just for initial fame, but it doesn't give me hope
Parenti is still alive? I’ve kind of just assumed everyone cool is already dead
Lockdown America is a bit old but is a fantastic read. He also did Tropic of Chaos which Naomi Klein highly recommends.
The Hamilton book he wrote is a bit weird though. I have a copy, haven't read much of it yet.
Yeah that's expected. My knowledge of Hamilton is mainly around his anti-democracy efforts as part of aristocratic republicanism.
Ahh I see, I was worried he became a shitlib like other people with cool parents
Parenti is super old and he unfortunately isn't as sharp as he once was :/
Non twitter link because fuck twitter:

I like it. We need less leftist infighting ("everyone to the right of me is a succdem") and more propaganda for the proles.
This is amazing. This is the first time I've ever done a Patreon. We need more leftist propaganda out there.
