Nooooo south korea must hold out against the evil wicked satanic north
thats why their president wants everyone to do 60 hour work weeks, so everyone can work extra hard for democracy!
In South Korea you have the freedom to work 60 hours, but In North Korea, all jobs are banned except for dusting the Kim Jong-un portrait. If you are found doing anything else, you will be executed for 12 generations.
As opposed to the excellent work/life balance that North Korea is known for
Oh shit. I'm going to go make accounts on lemm.ee when I want to do a bit from now on. It really adds a layer of authenticity when pretending to be the worst person you can imagine.
I told them that what they called Western hegemony is different from the rules based order. They said the rules based order is Western hegemony. And I said I agreed. That is what I am saying. Real Western hegemony is a rules based order. And they said yes, that is what we are trying to get rid of. And I said no, but we don't even have that right now. We need more Western hegemony. And everyone at the same time was like "nooo" we are socialists, we are against Western hegemony. Socialists oppose Western hegemony. And I said but not social democrats. Social democrats are the socialists who support NATO.
And I saw someone accuse my post of strawmanning.
I made a post the other day based on the Greek Anarachist copypasta
the rules based order.
Does the US actually have some set of bylaws or something that dictate how everyone has to do what they say? I've never been clear if there actually are "rules" or if that's just something they say.
Wow, is this some sort of Moscow-funded Russian disinformation bot farm instance? Russia is an existential threat to the US and we have to draw a line somewhere. This war is about democracy. A democratic Ukraine vs fascist Russia. If we don’t stop them in Ukraine, democracy is over.
The US is an extistental threat to all life on earth, liberal
Edit: damnit, I fell for it
The United States is an existential threat to the United States. Enjoy your has-been empire.
Step 1: Create a reverse Cuban missile crisis
Step 2: Sell weapons to nazis
Step 3: Take advantage of the chaos of war to use the IMF to loot the country
Step 4: ???
Step 5: Democracy
You could honestly argue that it was America putting nukes in Turkey, and should actually be called the Turkish missile crisis
how has media so successfully gaslit people into believing that the ukraine was ever even successful at being a liberal democracy? i guess all that rampant corruption that was covered by liberal outlets suddenly stopped being a thing when the SMO started
Because they want and need to believe it so that it justifies their warmongering and bloodlust against Russia
This essay is mentioned too often but it's so good https://redsails.org/masses-elites-and-rebels/
Class analysis on imperialist propaganda and why Westerners believe it so easily
Same reason liberals still think the US is a democracy: if you just say something enough times loudly enough, people start to believe it.
I think a lot of them also don't really understand how the government works, and their conception of what "Democracy" means is so deeply enmeshed in the American Civil Religion that they're dealing with more of a religious article of faith than an actual political system grounded in the real world.
Of course it is, that's how "Democracy" has always worked. In what meaningful way has the US ever promoted Democracy? Yet every single military action abroad is justified by saying we're defending Democracy. It's not an actual thing, just a signifier (and practically speaking, democratic countries = countries that bend the knee to US hegemony).
practically speaking, democratic countries = countries that bend the knee to US hegemony
This is exactly what is meant by democracy in the empire. They don't mean anything else and the only time it's important is if there isn't a willing dictator to install instead.
I doubt most of them knew Ukraine existed in any real sense. All I knew about Ukraine when things started to heat up is that it used to be part of the USSR and there was a revolution there in '14.
was a revolution there in '14.
was a
revolutionviolet overthrow of a democratically elected government by torch-wielding neo-nazi thugs in '14FTFY 😘
Yup, no question. I didn't understand the politcs and details until I started looking in to it.
This is anecdotal but should be enough to get you started at least
No you see its like in the movies when the bad guy joins the good guys to fight a new bad guy.
Libs know exactly ONE thing about history - that Chamberlain tried to appease Hitler by letting him take the Sudetenland, and it didn’t stop him - and think it’s some universal truth that applies in every situation.
That exact analogy has been used by high ranking US officials to justify nearly every conflict since the WWII, including Korea, Vietnam, and the War on Terror.
It's also not true at all, i.e not a fact. Chamberlain wanted to collaborate with Hitler, not appease him.
Of course this is only surprising to Liberals who can't imagine why the leader of the British Empire would be a fascist 🤔💭◻️
If we aren't constantly killing millions of people, we might fail to kill the next Hitler.
But also remember that killing Hitler would make you just as bad as Hitler, sweaty.
Killing poor people and destroying the ecosystem is fine tho
Liberals know exactly one thing about history and it's not even true
it's so nice to be able to reduce the world to simple stories and metaphors
i know the soviet union sucked bceause i've read (a summary of) animal farm
i know violence is not the answer because i watched that one MLK car advert and idk ghandi or smth and also professor x is better than magneto
i know putin is evil because someone compared him to voldemort and also its probably because his mom didn't love him
Technically Zelenksy wasn't installed by the coup, that was a guy or two ago. But your point stands.
etc etc etc fucking etc.
Suck. It. Bitches.
people who type like this deserve gulag
Thanks for reminding me to go watch this video. Its been too long.
This is domino theory. It doesn't look good on paper, and it has lead to incredible amounts of war and death and destruction in the real world, including WW1. Many also argued that domino theory would lead to a bunch of democracies in the middle east after a democratic utopia was created in Iraq. No real world application for domino theory has been found.
Real Domino's Theory has never been tried because the Noid always gets his due
It's such a perfect line because it reveals their total neoliberalization, the entire monstrous, bloody affair of war is justified by a potential Return on Investment.
If Ukraine isn't open to Western investors then maybe Taiwan won't be either. Then South Korea. Then Poland. How will my boss's boss make a steady 15% on his capital if that happens?
This is an investment in democracy.
This amazes me
It's funny that
It's hilarious that
I really like it that
starting a sentence like that hides the reactionary rage!
What's you opinion on "I just think it's funny how..."
Edit: I guess you already said that one
it amazes me that people will just write comments and then delete them

You got me.
Libs are so desperate to have a cause. They want Biden to be the new FDR, they want a new arsenal for democracy, they want Putin to be Hitler, and so on. It's all hollow.
Makes sense with all the Potter/Jedi/etc analogies. If the cause isn't there, they'll cycle through prefab tropes until one of them provides just enough of an explanation to see the US as the good team.
They want Biden to be the new FDR
looking at the ICE internment camps that were never closed
well... I mean...
their families chemically castrated and put on permanent house arrest
No. This is not how we do.
Torturing innocent people isn't a tone. Eugenics isn't a tone. Collective punishment isn't a tone. Figure your shit out.
