Why do you think they made this silly, restrictive laws about war crimes in the first place? Because people in the past were a bunch of cucks who didn't face reality? No! People who witnessed firsthand the harrowing reality of the most horrible conditions that you can muster in a finite world realized that it DOES NOTHING but make the suffering worse and prolonged. So when you would fight tooth and nail against anyone who would break down your walls to give people food without regard to how innocent they are, they are the good guys when you think in terms of any philosophy that isn't post hoc justification for being vile. Because I can think of a really, really easy and cheap way to get the hostages back. Just stop the genocide (and killing them yourself in the process).
